Second Floor Common Room- Wednesday Afternoon
Kurt was a bundle of nervous and excited energy that afternoon. This was the day he and Libby were going to work on decorating cookies together. Not only that, they were going to have a very special instructor teach them! So, it was no wonder Kurt was looking forward to the afternoon date as he shifted around the common room kitchen.
With the focus being on decorating rather than the actual baking for this date, Kurt had spent all morning baking up several batches of sugar cookies. That was why dozens of (very moddable) cookies were on the counter, many in basic shapes and designs for maximum creativity. The kitchen was already cleaned up from the early morning baking effort and Kurt was busy setting out everything else they would need, which thankfully wasn’t a lot.
“Ok…. That’s all set and ready… cookies are cooled and ready… I think that’s everything…” Kurt muttered nervously as he went over everything.
“Kurt, stop fretting. And hold still! You’re going to wear a hole in the floor if you keep that up!”
Kurt stopped his pacing and looked over at the computer sitting on the corner of the counter, FaceTime already up and running, a smile unconsciously tugging at the corners of his mouth.
“Sorry, Mutti…” he said somewhat sheepishly as he stopped in front of the screen. “I can’t help it. I want this to be perfect for Libby.”
“And it will be. Now stop fretting and text the girl already.”
“Just… promise you won’t embarrass me,” Kurt said with a somewhat pleading smile as he pulled out his phone and started sending out a text to Libby.
“Hey Libby! We still on for cookie decorating today, right?” Oh please let that still be happening… “Got everything ready if you still want to!”
And with that done and sent, all there was left to do was wait for Libby to show up...
(Kurt is of course expecting someone, but the common room is definitely open and anyone is free to ping in for a chat or to use the area before Libby arrives in the oh so handwavey timeline XD )

So she may have paused just outside the door, letting out a slow breath to prepare herself before heading inside.
"Hi, Kurt. Are you rea--" She stopped, blinking a little at all the prep work he'd done. "Oh, wow, that's a lot of cookies!"

"Now, Kurt. No putting yourself down before we even get started!"
Kurt rolled his eyes slightly before turning toward the computer, giving Libby a grin and a nod to ask her over. This was it. The moment of truth. And all Kurt could do was pray this went well.
"Libby, I'd like you to meet my mum.... Mum, this is Libby," Kurt said as he suddenly found himself holding his breath somewhat.

Thankfully, only words came out. No nerve-wracked stomachs.
"Hello, Mrs. Wagner!" she said, lifting a hand in a wave that seemed to retreat back before it could really fully develop. "It's so nice to finally get to meet you!"
no subject
"Oh Libby, dear it's wonderful to finally meet you too! Our Kurt-Cake has told us so much about you..."
"Muuuum!" Kurt groaned as he stared with a look of shock and horror on his face at hearing the nickname he had given to himself... when he was three...that she insisted on still using at the worst possible times. The heat he felt rising in his cheeks grew as he glanced over at Libby, almost afraid of what her reaction would be.

"He's told me an awful lot about you, as well, ma'am," she said, with a small nod. "And thank you so much for your Christmas present, as well! It's almost too beautiful to use! But I really love it, it was so kind of you to think of it."

Oh great.... They were ganging up on him now. Wonderful. Kurt sighed and tried to interject before anything else embarrassing got brought up.
"So..... About these cookies then..." Kurt started, sighing slightly but actually realizing that he'd prefer embarrassing stories about him to the alternative. At least Libby and his mum seemed to be getting along well.

So she ducked her head, growing a little pink across her cheeks with her still-difficult to control smirk, and said, "We do have an awful lot of cookies over here, looking terribly plain without any decoration."

"I've made up a bunch of icing for us," Kurt said, lifting up the bowl to demonstrate JUST how much there was. "I also have smaller ones so we can mix up the colors we want."
"Good, good," Kurt's mom said with an approving nod. "And you have plenty of icing bags ready too?"
"Aye, ready to be filled!" Kurt said, holding them up before handing one over to Libby. " What color do you want to make first, Libby?"
no subject
And then felt like that was a little too on the nose, so she went with her next choice.
"Maybe yellow?" she suggested, taking up the bag being offered. "I always feel like it's such a bright, sunny color. It's hard to look at yellow and not feel happier."
no subject
He glanced at the computer screen, breathing a small sigh of relief that his mum seemed, for now, content to simply watch as they got started.
"Do you..." he started, suddenly feeling that familiar yet still somewhat confusing dipping in his stomach. "You need any help?" he asked Libby, giving a nod to the icing bag. Not that he had much experience working with them either, so this could really end up being a case of the blind leading the blind here.

And then she shook her head a little, realizing that she was making a mountain out of a molehill here, that it wasn't that complex or deep, that it was just her and Kurt (and Kurt's mother) decorating cookies and enjoying each other's company, and that's all it needed to be.
"I think I can get it," she said, finding a compromise without even having to think about it now, "but it would probably be easier with some help. We can also make some of them like sunflowers, maybe. Do y'all," her eyes shifted a little toward the computer, so that Kurt's mother knew she was including her in this question, too, "have sunflowers in Germany, too?"
no subject
A merry laugh noted Kurt's mom agreed, "Yes, there are some beautiful sunflower fields. We grow a lot of Cornflowers too. It's the national flower of Germany."
"It's a really pretty blue flower. Sort of looks like a smaller version of a sunflower in a way," Kurt said as he grabbed his phone and showed Libby a picture.

And she felt a little bit of a blush creeping onto the cheeks at that, because, well, wouldn't you know it. Looks like she was getting her blue icing after all.

She sounded far too proud to have that knowledge to share.

"Like these," she said, turning her phone toward Kurt when she felt she'd found the best picture. "They're usually purple, so we can do that color, too."

"Aye, I usually end up with flour all over my fur and something splashed on my clothes" Kurt admitted with a small grin as he handed over a dish rag for Libby, pointing to his own face to indicate a little had even gotten there.

She perched on the counter. "I've got our class and Creative Writing now. What about you?"
no subject
"I have two other classes after ours with Summer. I have Intro to Zoology on Friday and this morning was the Community Center class about dinosaurs." Yes, he was still very much a kid at heart!
