The Deck, Weds. Afternoon
It was warm out, it was only partly-cloudy at times, and best of all, it wasn't fucking raining. For once.
Spring on the East Coast was almost as miserable as winter for Ada, just in a different way.
So Ada had dragged some pillows and a picnic blanket out on to the deck, and was stretched out in a patch of sunshine to try and soak up as much of the warmth as she could with a generic smutty novel for entertainment.
She'd dart back inside if it started raining, but for now, Ada was going to enjoy being outside, and not locked in by walls of stone.

But Ada grinned at him and waved her book in his direction. "Just doin' some reading an' gettin' sunshine. I was going nuts cooped up in th' dorms with all th' rain rain rain."

He stretched out across the picnic blanket. "Maybe you should head out to the city for a day or something."

Was the carnie going stir-crazy seeing the same places and the same buildings and the same people every day? Yeah, pretty much.
"Ain't that new Legendary Lady movie or whatever coming out? Let's grab some people an' go."

Hashtag easily pleased.
"But sure. We can round up Iz, Anders, Kathy, Hya..."

Now she was plopping herself down on the deck and nodding hello, ready to soak up some sun herself.

Then she began to record, holdish the phone up to capture the day.
"See tgis, Morty? What a wonderful day on beautiful Fandom Island, land of exiles, land of misfits. But also the land of....you guessed it...Strawberry Smiggles."
And now she focused on the stuff she brought out.
"In fact, I could really go for a bowl right now. Just look at that."
She held the phone with on hand, poured the cereal, the milk, with the other, narrating the process with emphasis on its wonderful, sugary goodness. "I bet you can taste them now. Can't you? My offer still stands, Morty. You could have a box all for yourseld, but only if you fork over what I want. The decision is yours. I'm waiting."
She turned the phone to capture her taking a bite. "Mmmm. So good. So, so good."
"And send." Summer did a few more things, chuckling to herself, and then looked up to realize other people were there.
"Oh. Uh. Sorry. Don't mind me."
But she grabbed the bowl and had a seat to finish off the bowl, because why not? She was already there.

Ada. No.

You could tell she meant it, too, since each word had its own period.
"Oh, I like you. I like how you think."
And she will try very hard never to puss her off, whoever she was.
"Uh, I'm Summer, by the way."

"What's it like graduating here, though? Where are you from, originally? I'm really hoping I'm only here for the summer, but, if things don't change much back home, I'm kiiiiinda thinking here might be the better option..."

And she rolled her eyes to the sky to add the customary, "Not a challenge, by the way, O Great Island Powers that Be!"

Those were memories time could never erase. SO Summer was going to focus on something else.
"...being a cat would be pretty awesome, you have to admit."

Instead, she lifted her box of Strawberry Smiggles and shook it a little. "Want some?"
Food, she felt, was a good way to make her seem a little less weird, if that was even possible.

Jalian shook her head. "You said it has sugar?"
no subject
"Ohhhh, yeah," she chuckled a little. "Tons of it. It's got a cartoon leprechaun on the cover, so you know it's marketed to kids, which means basically sugar crack in crispy form. I don't have any more bowls, but it's fine just dry, too."

"Yeah, my brother. He can't get it back home anymore, so of course I'm going to hang it over his head."

Because Summer lost the desire to keep thing quiet and beat around the bush on that topic pretty darn quickly.
