"Go, pai-gow, Chinese checkers... that sort of thing. I played tag a lot with my brother when we were younger, but I don't think that counts." She looks at her letters, then openly studies the board.

"Ah." She picks out three tiles, M, R, and T, and adds them horizontally to the junction of bed and toad. "That spells mart and me, for... ten points, right?"

Actually... the M's on a double letter score... so you get it twice. So that's sixteen for you.

::She is so going to mop the floor with me, frak!::

::racks her brain for a good play, but just doesn't see one. Sighs, and places H and A in front of the T of Toad::

Hat. Six points.

::grabs her two replacements, W, and N. Yep. I'm so not going to win::

So, you have a brother? He doesn't go to school here too, does he?

[ooc: and yes, I'm keeping track, since scrabble ends when there are no more tiles, so the game would never end. -.-]

River examines the board, as though it were a mathematical equation to be solved. "Hmmm. OK, here." She curses her lack of a second E, then lays out three tiles vertically downwards from the T in mart. "Tend, for four points?"

Well, it's 5 for the letters, plus E's on a double letter, that makes 6 actually

::rubs her eyes, but fights the sleepiness::

::looks at the board, realizes she could have played "oath" instead of "hat" and scored a double word. Frak! Must be the rum getting to me.::

Ha! ::puts down I and N on top of "tend":: Intend, 7 points. Look at me catch up by a point! ::smiles::

::grabs new tiles, E and L, making her holding "j, q, w, o, e, v, l". She stares, and rearranges them to spell "jq vowel" on her tray::

[ooc: and the current score is River: 57, Cally: 29. As to be expected.]

River plucks three tiles off her stand and runs them horizontally off the D in tend. "Dirk. For nine."

[ OOC: And my three new pieces are 80 (S), 32 (F), and 30 (E). ]

::Starts wondering if River is colorblind::

Triple letter on the R, so it's eleven, actually.

::Maybe I should keep letting her score herself... I might actually be able to catch up::

::looks at board, and her letters::

::thinks for a minute, and plops down o-v-e-l under the N of Turn::

::grabs her replacement letters, E, Blank, I, and T, making her at Blank, j, q, w, e, i, t... and she quickly smiles as she arranges q-blank-i-e-t on her tray::

Aha. Finally. River places four of her tiles around the E in novel, to spell codex. "Fifteen points, if there's none of those unusual score-modifiers around."

[ OOC: New tiles are 58 (N), 29 (E), 50 (L), and 35 (G). ]

::stares for a second at the play, her mouth open::

::Frak! There goes playing "quilt" on the triple word to catch up. Then, she notices the dark blue behind the X and the C. So much for catching up, ever::

Erm, Triple Letter on the C and the X, actually. So... thirty-seven.

::stares at her tiles, wondering if it really matters what she plays now::

::thinks really hard, chewing on her lower lip. Ha! Got One!::

::builds vertically off the K in "dirk", W-I-Blank-K-E-T::

The blank one's a C. Wicket. The I hits a red, so that means triple score for the whole word. ::does quick math in her head:: Thirty Six! Don't think you can leave me in the dust quite yet! ::smiles at River, severely enjoying herself::

::reaches over into the scrabble box and pulls out new letters: E, O, S, N, I. This brings her to JQEOSNI. Cally stares at her tray, and pokes it hoping the letters will magically form a word out of the mess. Sadly, it doesn't::

"Oooh, nice one." River stares at the letters in her own queue, trying to figure out where on earth they might fit in. "Leesh" is not a word. "As part of making another word, can I make one of the existing words plural?"

She silently hopes the answer is "yes". Otherwise, she's stuck with a number of less-than-useful tiles.

::nods, smiling:: As long as it makes a word, plural or not, it'll work fine.

River bares her teeth in a wicked grin. "Well, then..." She lays out G, L, E, N, and S so that the S falls directly below font. "Glens and fonts. For sixteen before any multipliers."

[ooc: Actually, I have us down for being out of Hs -.-]

And with the double word, twenty. Sure you've only played this once before?

::pokes at her tiles again, but just doesn't come up with anything spectacular::

Line. Double word, so atleast it's eight points. And so the gap begins to widen again. ::smiles::

::pulls her new tiles, B, O, and Y. Giggles a little, sleepiness and rum going to her head. sets them in front JOQS, forming BOY JOQS. Not perfect spelling, but the phonetics amuse her for the time being::

"Hmmm," River says, leaning on her folded hands. "So... met anyone cute yet? I know you and Rogue seemed pretty friendly the other night..."

She contemplates the board again. "Let's see... how about --" She pulls four tiles from her stand, then sets T, E, E, T vertically above the beginning of hat to spell teeth.

[ OOC: Which seems strangely prophetic now, given her confrontation with Remus Lupin in werewolf form last night. Eeeek! Don't give River the precognitive Scrabble board! :) ]

"Which is a base of eight points, right?"

[ OOC: And new tiles are... 86 (T), 27 (E), 82 (T), 28 (E). Um, the hell? I just used those! *facepalm* :)

Yeah, I think we can blame that on how drunk I was. Rogue's a sweetheart, though.

I have to say... Cameron Mitchell is really cute. Other than him, the guys I've met so far aren't really cuddle worthy...

River blushes prettily. "I'm, uh, maybe. I'm not sure. I'm still looking around and... there might be someone I'm interested in." She looks off into the distance, remembering pale grey skin (http://www.livejournal.com/users/miss_monochrome/) against her own. "I don't know whether its something serious, but it's definitely... yummy."

Looking back down at the board, River gnaws on her lip. With the letters she's got, there's not much she can do except...

She places the R and T on her rack below the second O in soot to spell ort. "For three?"

[ OOC: Ooops. Complete lack of new tiles drawn! I got 19 (E) and 40 (I). ]

::considers challenging Ort... but decides River probably does know its a real word, and questioning it would make her look a little dumb::

"It's... well, understand, I don't know what social mores are like around here. But where I grew up, something like this wouldn't necessarily be..." River shrugs helplessly. "It's Chiana. It's..." River blushes again, even more furiously. "I don't know what it is, only that it feels really ... good."

She sighs. "Since all the boys around here seem to be sewn up into their own little worlds, or evil, or already with someone..." She shrugs again. "I'm experimenting, if that makes any sense. Trying to see if it's something for me."

River glances back down at her letters, and then at the board again. She pulls two letters from her rack, and places E and A in front of the topmost T of teeth. "Three, again."

[ OOC: I was keeping track, but I seem to have misplaced my paper. *rolls eyes* Anyways, my new ones are... 73 (R) and 45 (I)? ]

[ OOC: And hopefully yummy is sweet. *smile* ]
