Second floor common room

Rogue wanders into the second floor common room, carrying a notebook, a pen, a copy of the Weekly Tentacle, and a large cup of iced tea. She starts scribbling notes in the margin of the paper, obviously attempting to get the extra credit Prof. Jerusalem promised to anyone who got an article in the paper. "Mindraped? If that was mindrape, what do you call what happens to me every time I fucking touch someone?" she mutters angrily. "Stupid newspaper doesn't know what the hell it's talking about. Since he or she is so oblivious to what's happening, this shouldn't be too hard."

While she is busy, it's obvious that Rogue wouldn't mind some company ~~or a distraction~~. Otherwise, she could have studied just fine in her own room.

Rogue turns back to Cally. "Wow, that's so cool. I'll vote for you." She grins. "I don't think I could run for that; I'm not really a political person."

::chews on her lip::

It's not that political, is it? I just thought it'd be fun, and I'd get to meet some new people, and let other people get to know me...

"Well, I don't know how it is here, but my older sister's best friend ran when I was a freshman, at my old school in Mississippi. Stuff got a little ugly, but then again, all those girls were real bitches." She smiles at Cally. "I don't think you have that problem."

Well, I'm glad to hear that. ::smiles, and plops down onto one of the couches::

I dunno... I was just going to sketch up a poster, but if this gets serious to some people, maybe I should try to get something bigger organized.

Not that I'm in this to win, or anything.

Rogue ponders for a minute. "I wish I could remember what Allyson did. She didn't end up winning, but she came real close. I know she made buttons and handed them out, and cookies and such." She grins. "People love food."

Well, I definitely won't be making toast for everyone, but cookies sound like a good idea. I can probably get Elizabeth and Janet to help out too.

::smiles, and realizes she's been a bit selfish in the conversation::

So... what're you working on, then?

"Just some stuff for Professor Jeruselem." She waves her hand over the Weekly Tentacle. "If we get an article or a juicy bit of gossip in this paper, we get extra credit." Rogue rolls her eyes. "It's the most ridiculous trash ever, but the Professor claims it's journalism, so we have to study it or something."

She shrugs. "It could be worse. He could have asked us to tackle the real tentacle monster, and while I'm ~~pretty~~ sure Drusilla wouldn't let it hurt a student, that'd just freak me out. I just can't seem to think of anything that would be worthy of publication, you know?"

Well, I guess there's all the drama about the dance, already. I can't believe how fast people are getting dates... I mean, it was only announced yesterday and half the people I know seem to already be going with the other half. ::sighs. And I still don't know if Anders actually asked me::

Other than that, I can't think of any real news-worthy gossip. Homecoming seems to have pretty much taked over everything.

"Well, I guess people are just worried they won't get to go with the person they really want if they wait too long." She cocks her head to the side. "I take it you don't have a date yet?

"Yeah, I really think it has. The school's in homecoming mode. It's really kind of a normal thing in highschool. And besides, it's something fun and normal here," she adds. "With all the craziness around, we need that."

::Forcibly puts Anders out of her head. He was just being silly... I think. Maybe. He's a jock, remember? And he wanted to bring the ball!::

Nope, no date here. That's half why I'm running for Queen... that way, if I win, I'll atleast get to dance with somebody. ::sad laugh::

How about you?

"Oh I'm sure you'll have a date! I mean, you're cute, nice and funny." She smiles. "I doubt you need to run for queen to get someone to dance with you. I mean, I'd dance with you, queen or no queen!"

Rogue grins happily. "I'm going with Sheldon. I'm real excited. It should be a lot of fun."

::smiles::

See, everybody I know already has a date, or has someone in mind. The only available guy I know might be going with his pyramid ball... Well, there's Sparky... but no. Definitely not Sparky.

We've already danced together, you know, so I suppose I can save you one ::blushes and smiles::

That is, unless you think Sheldon would be bothered by that.

"Not Sparky? From what I hear you're pretty close. Nothin' wrong with takin' a friend." She smiles, and blushes a little too. "I'll definitely save you one. And I have a sneaking suspicion Shel won't care."

Well yeah, if it came down to just as friends, I'd totally be okay going with Sparky. ::smiles::

::fiddles with her posterboard for a second::

So... I was wondering...

...I, ummm. I heard something about you...

Rogue looks concerned. "Whatever you've heard, you can ask me. I mean, this place is a gossip house, so it's likely untrue, but, who knows. We all have secrets."

She looks at Cally, wondering what she heard--and who she heard it from.

It was just some rumor I heard, about... something happening when you touch other people... ::blushing, and very, very awkward::

Rogue looks at her, her face very serious. "That's true. It's not somethin' I like to advertise, for obvious reasons, but people who need to know, know." She pauses, thinking of the best way to explain it. "I absorb people--their personalities, their memories, and if they have any special powers, I get those too."

She sighs. "For the most part, it's temporary, and there aren't many ill effects for the other person, and none that last past a couple of days. But depending on how long the contact was, I keep the memories and personalities. It kinda messes with you when there's a bunch of other people runnin' around up here." She taps her head.

She grins, trying to lessen the tension. "I think the gloves are sexy, don't you?"

::smiles, but a little pensive, trying to absorb all of that she's been told::

Absolutely. Very sexy. I definitely wouldn't be able to pull off gloves... then again... ::looks down at her entirely black outfit::

...I don't seem to pull off color, usually. ::smiles::

Rogue smiles, a little relieved that Cally didn't go running off. Most people around here seemed to be okay with the mutant thing, but the fear was always going to be there. "You should try color. I think you'd look nice in blue."

Any particular shade? I don't even know how many different blues there are... but you're definitely not getting me into anything lighter than navy, okay? ::smiles::

"Well, navy's a start. Then maybe we can work our way from maroon to red, too." She smiles, "We should go looking for homecoming dresses together! I think there are some very pretty ones in one of the new shops in town."

It's a date. Afterwards, we can get that coffee we said we would, too. ::smiles, and slings her left arm around Rogue's shoulder... but carefully enough to make sure she doesn't touch skin, just in case::

::then, she holds up her right pinky::

Pinky-Swear?

Rogue smiles, happy for the contact and the familiarity. She holds up her pinky, and wraps it around Cally's. "Pinky-swear." She giggles. "Gosh, I haven't done this since grade school!"

::smiles:: It's not that childish, is it? I like it... it's so much more personal and fun than a handshake, you know?

Gosh... we've talked boys, dresses, and dances... We just need to go find some ice cream and braid each other's hair to get through the whole list of cliches, now. ::giggles::

"Definitely more fun than a handshake!"

Rogue giggles too. "And watch bad romantic comedies starring Hugh Grant! Then it would really be complete!"
