In the third floor common room

For the second night in a row, Rory wanders into the third floor common room (with another stack of flyers and coffee in hand) and flips on the TV.

However, it's fairly obvious from the rapid pace she's flipping through the channels that she's not really all that focused on the television.

Alanna laughed. "I lived in a monarchy."

Alanna laughed. "It wasn't bad. Or, it wasn't bad for a nobel-born Lady disguised as nobel-born Squire who happens to be close friends with the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister's son, and the guy who runs the spy services." Alanna paused for a moment. "But the other half of my friends are prostitutes and thieves."

Alanna grinned. "Let's just say the Crown Prince and the King of Thieves are both fighting for my hand. And since everyone thinks I'm a boy, everyone thinks those two are gay. Which part are you wowing about?"

The whole thing. It sounds like something out of...I don' know, a fairy tale or something.

"Our fairy tales are about creatures that eat dead corpses, unicorns, and dragons. And yeah, everyone thinks the Crown Prince is gay. Because he's been caugh making eyes at his squire. Who is no way a girl." Alanna smirked. "Since I'm a bit of a better lier than Jon, no one seems to think I'm gay."

Well that's depressing. An' I guess you'd have to be a pretty good liar to get by as a boy.

..Alanna, this Jon character does know you're a girl, right? An' the other one, the 'Prince of Thieves' or whatever he was?

"I hate lying to my friends and teachers, but it's the only way." She grinned. "Yeah, I should hope so. Seeing as how the rumors are true. And George found out in a rather unusual way. I desperately needed a healer and couldn't go to the Palace ones for reasons understanble. So I prooved once and for all that insanity runs in the family and went to the "King of Thieves of Tortall" with my huge secret."

Alanna shrugged. "He had proved himself to be a good friend up then. I was twelve, and was bleeding in a rather unusual place. I needed a healer rather desperately."

Alanna blushed. "Nerves, I talk a lot. Plus, girl, grew up with guys. Had no clue what was happening. Turns out George's mum was a healer."
