West Attic mid morning

Paige is sitting in her room, this whole parent's weekend thing has got her thinking about her mom and dad, she misses them like crazy and knows Grams will want to spend some time with Piper and Phoebe.

She decides to get on with some homework to take her mind off things, but is listening out in case anyone knocks

((open to anyone obviously))

Grams left the East Attic, heading over to the West Attic, where Piper had told her Paige was staying. She wanted a chance to talk to her granddaughter alone.

She took a deep breath to steady herself, then knocked on the door.

Grams clasped her hand to her heart. "You must be Paige," she said. "You have your mother's eyes."

"Yes, my darling girl," Grams said, sweeping Paige into her arms for a hug. "I'm your granddmother, Penny."

"I wanted to see my girls," Grams said, smiling kindly. "All of them."

"Coffee would be lovely, thank you," Grams said. She followed Paige into the attic and sat down in a chair. "You must be dying to know just what happened that you were given up for adoption," she said with a sad smile.

Grams frowned. "Who told you that? Well -- I suppose it is true in a way. You're a very special child, Paige, the only one of your kind. Your mother, Piper and Phoebe's mother, was a witch. Your father was something called a Whitelighter."

[identity profile] pennyhalliwell.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Technically, yes, whitelighters are dead," Grams said. "They are very good people who become angels when they die, and they watch over witches and other special people. Your father, Sam, was your mother's whitelighter. After she divorced Phoebe's and Piper's father, she became...involved with Sam. Such a thing is forbidden. But Patty wouldn't listen to me and the next thing you know, she's pregnant. We were afraid there would be reprisals from the Elders because your mother and father had broken their rules, so Patty and Sam made the decision to hide you by giving you up for adoption. They took you to a church and gave you to a nun and told her to find you a good home, which they did. I kept a close eye on that to make sure."

"The Elders are a force of good," Grams said. "They won't hurt you. But they could decide to strip your powers." She looked heavenward and whispered to Paige, "They're sometimes very stupid. And useless. And interfering busybodies."

Grams sipped her coffee. "Doubly so, my dear," she said. "As a witch, your sacred duty is to protect innocents and vanquish demons. And since you are part Whitelighter as well, the need to protect is twice as strong. You have not been properly trained, of course, but you may feel a special tug towards people you are destined to protect."

She set down her cup. "Just remember, Paige, that you cannot flaunt what you are. You cannot use your powers for your own personal gain, or they may turn against you. This place is very special in that a witch or an angel are not entirely out of place or surprising, but outside, in the real world, be careful about revealing what you are. It could be dangerous to you and attract unwanted attention."

Grams heard the slight catch in Paige's voice when she mentioned Geoff. "Is this poet special to you?" she teased, then grew more serious and added, "Be careful with your heart, Paige. Men can be very cruel. I should know -- I've been married six four six four times."

She settled back in her chair. "Be careful of demons. I'm leaving a special book with Piper that will help you identify and fight them. They're the sworn enemies of witches and they will try to kill you. I don't want to scare you, my dear, but you need to know that what you are, your gifts, brings risks to your life. It's why I bound your sisters' powers, to protect them. Of course, this place seems to have undone that protection somehow...."

Grams frowned. "Don't trust them, Paige. They may be on their best behavior here, but demons are always waiting for a sign of weakness. If they have the chance, they'll try to kill you. Never give them that chance. Protect yourself and do not take any threats lightly.

"Your poet is a teacher?" Grams added with another frown. "Just how old is he, my dear? And do your sisters have boyfriends?"

[OOC: Have to run, but will be back late tonight and Sunday!]

Sawyer hadn't seen Paige in ages it seemed, he felt lonely because he didn't have anyone coming for Parent's Weekend; he wanted to check up on her and atleast see what she was up to for today. Silently, he made his way up to the West Attic, knocking on the door.

Ivanova lost G'Kar in the chaos of sign-ins and her tour. She hopes that she told him about locker 327. She notices the open door and pokes her head in to ask if they've seen a lost-looking Narn and freezes.

"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt . . ."

[[I was thinking after, but before works too ^^]]

Ivanova grins. "I don't think we have. Ivanova. Susan Ivanova. I was actually looking for my, ah, guardian. I think he might have gotten a little lost. Tall, mottled skin, looks a bit like a lizard?"

[identity profile] suzotchka.livejournal.com 2005-10-29 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Cute blond guy? You mean Chaucer?" She nods. "Yes, we took a little trip. It was good to get off-world, but I think I broke his brain a wee bit."

"I'm always up for a ride," Ivanova grins. "Just drop by and bang on the door. And no, thanks, I should get going. I have to try and find G'Kar before he gets eaten by the tentacle monster. Or runs in to . . . well, anyone."

[[G'Kar-mun is on now. Too many threads . . . *hides*]]
