Sunday afternoon, Dr. Carter's classroom

Since his mother and Raynor wanted to meet the people he associated with at the school, Belthazor reluctantly took them to Dr. Carter's classroom, checking to see if there were any JA members lingering after the Meet & Greet from yesterday.

The room was mostly empty, but a few people were there, including Beka, cleaning up in the back of the room.

Elizabeth looked over to Raynor. "Did you hear that, Raynor? He's insolent enough to accuse you of failing to train Belthazor properly."

"Tell me, what can you do for Belthazor that I haven't already?" Raynor knew there wasn't any reason to trust vampires.

"Train him to use those fireballs for something more than on/off," Angelus said, without even having to think about it. "Especially when you combine it with that teleportation trick. Also he needs to learn how to use his talents for pleasure as well as business. Not that I'd say you're in a rut or anything."

"Any of my son's failings are his own and not Raynor's," Elizabeth sneered. "Because of his pathetic human blood. Has he told you about that?"

"It's a poor musician who blames her instrument," Angelus replied.

"Again with nowhere to go but up," Angelus folded his arms and smirked. "Though I seem to like him better than you do. Tell you what, give me his contract or whatever the hell he has with you people."

Raynor pondered what Angelus suggested. "Belthazor still has important duties to perform. Perhaps, once he completes those, I will consider it."

"Oh, I see," Angelus said. "He's pathetic until somebody else wants him. What are you, three? If I distract you with a shiny object can I keep him for myself?"

"I am not Belthazor's mother," Raynor twitched, insulted that the vampire seemed to confuse him with Elizabeth. "I feel he has value and potential. You and I seem to agree on that."

Beka had heard enough. Phoebe wouldn't stand for this and neither would she. Addressing Raynor more than Angelus, Beka said quietly, "He has more value and more potential than you'll ever know."

"I want him to have more hobbies," Angelus said, addressing Raynor now since they seemed to have a rapport. "He could be doing so much more with what he has if somebody only encouraged him."

Raynor nodded at Angelus, finally trusting him somewhat. "Perhaps he could use some more encouragement. You think you can provide that?"
