[Wednesday Morning: Locked to [livejournal.com profile] krycek_rat and <user site="livejo

Krycek stepped out of the Dean's office, sighing as he realized they hadn't accomplished much and the frogs would still be in their dorms until such time as an exterminator might show up. "That was a waste of time," he grumbled, making sure the door was shut behind D'anna before he spoke.

Frustrated and absolutely dreading spending a night sharing her room with frogs of the four legged variety, D'anna followed Krycek out of the dean's office,"absolutely, bloody pointless."

Several frogs hop past D'anna and Krycek. After splitting up to detour around the two students, the frogs return to hopping down the hallway in a line as if they have a specific destination in mind.

D'anna may have given a little surprised screech when she noticed the little buggers going past, but she wasn't going to be admitting that any time soon. Her eyes narrow as she watched them hop down the hall and she crossed her arms. She shuddered, "creepy little bastards."

"So we'll just follow them and see where they lead?" She wasn't thrilled at the thought but Krycek was on to something.

The frogs reached the end of the hallway and turned the corner, still all hopping in a line.

Against her better judgment, against her common sense and against her desire to stay as far away from the little green buggers as possible, D'anna nodded her consent and followed him.

As D'anna and Krycek round the corner, they can just see the last frog squeezing its way through a broken panel on a small, inconspicuous door.

D'anna hesitated at the top of the stairs for just a second, there was only a single bare bulb to light their way, but she plunged forward not wanting to lose sight of Krycek.

The narrow stairs wound down in a tight spiral. The bulb hung on its cord about halfway down the center, blinding Krycek and D'anna to what lay at the bottom until they passed it. The frogs they'd followed through the door could just be seen on the stairs before the light from the bulb blocked them from sight.

Croaking from more frogs echoed up the stairwell.

"Fine, I'm fine! Keep going," she called down to him. She tried not to cringe at the increased chorus of croaking from below as she continued deeper into the lower levels of the school. "Don't lose them."

As Krycek and D'anna moved down past the hanging bulb it was easy to see that losing the frogs would not be a problem, at least not right away. There was only one way to go once they reached the bottom; an entrance to a hallway ran straight off the base of the stairwell. They could also now see other frogs hopping more slowly on their way up the stairs.

The descending frogs reached the bottom and moved off down the hallway.

Ewwwwww! Gross! D'anna gingerly picked her way down the last few steps, sliding her shoes across the floor at the bottom in hopes of removing any frog guts from her shoes. Belch! Just great...

The hallway ahead of them was long, poorly lit and had puddles of water on the floor in several places. The determined frogs hopped down it without pausing, but other frogs sat here and there down the length of it.

D'anna ran a hand through her hair, remembering the tiny frogs that had taken a ride on her ball-cap and braid, and mentally shuddered. "You're not the only one, but at least we're not in a bog this time," she tried to avoid the wet spots on the floor. That was all she needed, to slip and fall on her arse in the middle of a nest of frogs.
