The Dorm Roof, Wednesday Afternoon

Cally, after having enlisted the help of some gremlins through the power of sugar cookies, stands triumphant on the roof of the dorm building. She is wearing Anders' C-Bucs Jacket over her orange jumpsuit, along with the long multi-colored scarf the Doctor has leant her. It looks a little ridiculous, but the extra layers are helping keep her warm.

She begins unpacking the crates that she got the gremlins to haul up. Cally has a holiday weekend project. Her Dad has sent the last of the Viper parts, so she's going to put it back together.

...on the roof. Without administration approval. Let's see how this goes, eh?

[[ooc: Totally open to interaction. I'm sure the people who live in the attics will notice the noise.]]

Grissom comes up to the roof, to check it out as a possible make-out spot to observe atmospheric phenomenon (http://www.calsky.com/cs.cgi/Calendar?obs=79156451935796&c=) in the area.

"Ms. Cally, correct? Hot jumpsuit! I believe I remember you from Homecoming." Grissom smiles warmly when he notices Cally pulling something out of a crate.

He shakes her hand firmly. "No need to call me Sir, please. Grissom is fine. I apologize for interrupting your work; I've never come up to the roof before, despite living in the building for several months."

"The first floor, actually. There is a cluster of faculty apartments at the other end of the hall. And I'm not much of a social creature, to be honest. I'm working on it," he says light-heartedly enough.

He follows her over just a few steps and gestures toward the crates, "May I help?"

Grissom's lips quirk up in a lop-sided grin, and he shuffles over to the correct crate. He pulls out the plans and studies them for several long moments.

"Is this a..." he tilts his head as he continues to scan the documents, and then looks up wide-eyed. "Oh man, this is so cool."

"Oh, right, the Administration," Grissom refrains from rolling his eyes, still caught up in the documents. "Does this use Ion propulsion? I thought it lacked the thrust to... oh, hmmmm..."

"Fascinating," Grissom nods his head a few times, obviously enthralled. "Have you done a lot of flying, yourself?"

"It would be appear that your father is more than correct. This is an impressive feat of mechanical know-how." Grissom stands back for a moment, surveying the contents of the crates and making quick mental notes. "The technology I am accustomed to is less advanced, I'm afraid. Why don't I unpack some of the larger pieces? It will be a nice change of pace to be the brawn and not the brains of the operation," he says while making a motion toward a crate holding element of the landing gear.

"Huh, I'll have to remember I can bake the gremlins into submission if I have any problems with them in the future," he chuckles as he lays out a few pieces on the ground, glancing at the plans quickly to make sure he is putting them in the right order. "Although, I have to say, I'd hate to see your dorm room if you still had those cookies lying around."

[identity profile] drgrissom.livejournal.com 2005-11-23 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
He gives her a knowing chuckle. "I see. Well, as long as you don't have any food from before October in there, I'm sure it's okay," he says, sensing her embarrassment and gratefully moving on, lifting a heavy piece and setting it down, sitting for a moment afterward to rest.

Grissom's not one for idle chit-chat usually, but it is cold and he needs a bit of a distraction, and he's making an effort to actually talk to people lately, so he asks her, "So, Cally, how are your classes going? Do you like it here?"

Laughing, Grissom turns to her. "My college degree is in Biology. If you ever need any help with an assignment, I'm around. And I know the professor, I can put in a good word for you."

He stands up and brushes off his pants, getting back to work.

"You know, I've been meaning to ask Professor MacGuyver if I could use the Danger Shop," he says quietly, almost conspiratorially. "I'm going to build a tiki bar in my apartment."

"I could use it. I accidentally blew up his old still," he blushes slightly.

"I should be heading in now, actually. I promised someone I wouldn't wear myself out too much. But if you need any help tomorrow, I'll be in the dorms for the holiday. Nice to meet you, Cally."

"You too, take care," he says pleasantly as he heads down the stairs.

After Grissom and Cally both leave, the gremlins who had helped Cally haul the boxes came out from where they'd been hiding. They gathered around the plate of cookies and read the note.

They looked at each other, then at the cookies, then at the Viper parts around them. They huddled briefly to quietly confer. A small argument broke out. One gremlin was pitched off the roof.

The rest sat down around the plate of cookies and happily ate them all.

There may have been a discussion about what the parts would become when assembled.
