First floor lobby/common room, Wednesday night

Alanna paced in circles around the room, sometimes taking a momemnt or two to glare out the window into the falling snow. She was muttering under her breath and someone with good hearing might pick up the words "Cat" and "Idiotic". A forgotten book was lying down on a chair.

Janet was checking out the first floor common room. She really was almost never down there. Looked like Alanna had gotten there first and was irritated.

"Hey," said Janet, plopping down in a chair and wondering if she really wanted to pull out her Classics book.

Janet looked over at Alanna. Thank God. Someone to talk to! An excuse not to study. "Having a bad night?"

Janet smiled sympathetically. "So what's wrong?" she asked.

"You got into a fight with your cat?" asked Janet. "How'd that happen?"

"Just about everyone's gone home to visit their families for Thanksgiving," said Janet. She'd just go with the talking cat. It wasn't any weirder than anything else around here. "Very few people around."

"A talking cat's less weird than zombies," said Janet, shoving her backpack off to the side. "Or half the other crap that happens around here on a daily basis. So you're not going home for the break? I know a lot of the students who don't celebrate Thanksgiving are leaving anyway."

"I--don't really feel like going to Colorado this time of year," said Janet, shrugging. "Too cold. Some of us are going to be doing Thanksgiving dinner here instead. Want to come? Since you're not going home."

"Don't worry," said Janet dryly. "Almost no one I know can cook. Everyone's a disgustingly competent overachiever in some other way instead." She scribbled down an address on a piece of paper and handed it to Alanna.

"Stop by any time in the morning. We'll be getting there early to start cooking."

"Luckily, I can manage to whip up a halfway decent meal," said Janet. "And John promises that he can do something starchy, at least." She grinned. "Sure, bring the cat. What's his name?"

Janet grinned. "Irony was never my friend. I've got to go. See you tomorrow, Alanna."

Lockheed flew into the lobby, surprised to see people there. There were never people there.

He nodded to Alanna and Janet before curling up on a chair.

"Hey, Lockheed," said Janet.

Lockheed gave her a glare. She missed his class yesterday. That didn't put her in his good graces.

Janet, had she known what Lockheed was thinking, would have said that she was busy in the library and would be bringing in a note from the librarian.

OOC: And the player would have said that she was very, very busy at work and was going to go back this weekend and post to it.

Seeing that she gave his glare no real reaction, Lockheed let the hard feelings pass. He had tormented Jaye enough during that class. He couldn't hold a grudge against Janet.

She had given him cookies in the past, after all. Lockheed finally smiled at her.

[OOC: In that case, Lockheed could have just not noticed her during discussion because he was in a cookie-induced sugar coma, and Janet's player could go ahead and still post her participation this weekend. It's not like Lockheed has any clue what Janet would have been thinking had she known what Lockheed was thinking. I think I just confused myself.]
