The Dorm Roof, Friday Afternoon

Cally, with the intrepid and very necessary help of Anders, has hauled up some welding equipment to the dorm roof.

Today the Viper frame is to be re-fabricated. So, with the help of Anders (who is holding the big pieces in place, as that is probably the extent to which his skills run), Cally sets about this arduous work.

[ooc: Feel free to interrupt them.]

Anders feels very useful today as he holds a piece of Viper frame in place. "So, how long do you figure this'll take, coach?"

He's not at all distracted by thoughts of the fact that the Viper pieces are completely out of room 213, and impending officialness and stuff.

If he was, he might drop a heavy piece of frame on his foot or something.

"Well, with any luck maybe someone *cough*Bridge*cough* will show up to help, huh?" He frowns and shifts one end of the piece he's holding up a micrometer or two, and grins over at Cally. "Welding mask looks good on you."

Anders is very determinedly not thinking distracting thoughts, because if Cally cries, he's going to cry too, and that just can't happen.

"Anything we need for the Triad game? Foodwise, I mean? I can run out and get drinks or whatever. Snacks?"

Anders nods and kisses Cally on the cheek before trotting over to pick up the piece she's pointing at. "Got it," he mutters, carefully aligning it the way she tells him to. "That look right? And yeah, when we're done with this I'll run down to town and pick up a few things. You wanna come with? Or maybe set up the common room and all?"

He's really not distracted by the hotness of Cally in a welding mask. Really.

"You're so good at what you do, coach." Anders smiles at her affectionately, and kicks himself for feeling mildly inferior. Mentally, though -- if he kicked himself physically he wouldn't be holding the piece steady.

And Cally told him to hold it steady. So he's going to do that, damn it.

Anders does get dinged in the face a little bit by the welding mask, but he shakes it off, grins, and wraps his arms around her. "It probably will end up dispensing soft-serve ice cream from the fuel lines, you know. That might be kinda cool, though. And we really should talk to him about getting pricing schemes and invoice forms set up. He said he'd be there tonight, so . . ."

"Wow. That went a lot faster than I thought it would!" Anders can't help feeling pleased as he looks at the frame, even though all he did was hold stuff in place. He heads over and picks up the last piece, holding it in place just like Cally said.

"So what's next?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2005-11-25 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, and I wouldn't know about any of that because I got LEFT BEHIND TO DIE ON CAPRICA and I'm NOT BITTER ABOUT IT AT ALL, NO.

Anders's eyes may just have glazed over a little bit from all this. "Right. Right. Got it. Block and tackle. Engines."

He just goes back to holding the piece in place and thinking how sexy Cally looks in a jumpsuit and welding mask.

"Sure?" Anders rubs at the back of his neck, confused. "How are we gonna do that?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2005-11-25 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"Really?" Anders's eyes light up with excitement. "I can do that. Definitely. Yup."

He takes the mallet from Cally and happily wanders around the Viper frame, banging on it with abandon and quite pleased to be useful. After all, it's hitting things hard to see if they fall apart, and he's good at that sort of thing.

"You did good," replies Anders, still pounding away happily. "I didn't do anything, really."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2005-11-25 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Anders stops swinging the mallet and blinks at Cally for a second. "Totally." He puts the mallet down very carefully on the ground and holds out his arms for her. "You did all the cool complicated stuff, though."

Anders hugs her tighter, because he's pretty cold too, but also mostly because he just likes hugging Cally. "Well, I could warm you up if you want . . . and I guess being taller and the lifty stuff is kinda useful, huh?" He smiles weakly. "We done for now up here, or what?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2005-11-25 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Anders looks at her hopefully. "Could go for a little snuggle time, yeah . . . besides, we gotta figure out what all you want me to go out and buy, right?"

He's conveniently ignoring the fact that they already figured that part out.

After Cally and Anders leave, the same group of gremlins from yesterday (minus the one who is probably still a smoosh mark on the ground below) come out to inspect their work. They all walk around the assembled frame inspecting and discussing Cally's handy-work.

Finally, after a brief, if mildly violent, conference they all climb up onto the framework. The winner of the conference sits where the pilot's seat will eventually be. The rest spread themselves out over the Viper frame wherever they can find a comfortable perch.

The 'pilot' squeaks through a 'check list' as he pretends to flip switches and tap dials. Various gremlins behind him answer as he calls out each item. When the check list is finished the 'pilot' 'starts the engine'. He then begins making plane noises and all the gremlins lean in unison as the the 'pilot' 'flies' them about.
