Nighttime, outside the dorms

A trip into town had resulted in Sean getting everything a puppy could need to be happy, and many many things that he didn't need per se, but which were too damned cute to resist.

There had also been Christmas presents for the pooch, but those were safely hidden in the back of Angel's closet since lord knows he isn't hiding there where Sean couldn't find them.

Sean himself was currently sporting a red and green collar with, appropriately enough, a dog tag. On the tag it said "My name is SEAN. My dad's name is ANGEL."

Sean's new possessions were back in the room. In the meanwhile Angel could tell the signs of a puppy who wasn't yet ready to settle in for the night.

So they were outside, playing with a new ball, snow, and generally having more fun than you ever thought a broody vampire could have.

Behold the power of puppy.

Sean yipped and rolled onto his back so that he and Vladdie could wrestle.

"There's also atonement," Angel said. He looked at Rory. "I've hurt a lot of people, including you. Some might say I don't have a right to ask for the happiness I tried to deny others."

Vladdie yipped gleefully and rolled around with Sean, entirely unbothered by the coldness.

"Yeah, well...I'm not one of those people, Angel," Rory said softly. "You aren't the person who hurt me and Logan. You look like him, sure, but you aren't the same. And you deserve happiness as much as anyone else."

"Oh," Angel said, quietly. He watched the dogs as they wrestled. Sean attempted to chase Vladdie's tail. "That - uh - I guess answers my question. So you'd be okay if you saw me doing something like that?"

Angel paused.

"Not literally saw. I'm not talking pay per view or anything."

Rory snorted. "No, it wouldn't bother me. Why should it? It's your business." She sighed. "Besides, I'm not one to talk about what's right and wrong in relationships right now, anyway. So, yeah. Don't worry about me."

"Okay. Weird. Not unwelcome, but weird." Angel admitted. He watched the dogs as they continued to play. "Um - so who were you - no, don't tell me."

Rory grinned. "A girl."

"I don't wanna know," Angel said. "No - I do. No - I don't." He looked at her helplessly. "Do I like her?"

"I don't know," Rory shrugged. "I'm not in your head. I think you do, though, if I had to guess."

"Does she like me?"

"Very much," Rory nodded.

"Okay. Good." Angel said. He rocked on his feet nervously. "It is good, right?"

"Well, she's very nice. In an odd way," Rory said cryptically. "I mean, she likes me, so she's nice to me. But she's one of those whose bad side I wouldn't want to see. Oh, and she's very pretty, of course. Not that my opinion probably matters on that."

"Oh God," Angel stared at her. "Please tell me you're not talking about Parker."

Rory burst out laughing. "Oh God, no. Not Parker. She's, um...blonde."

"Right." Angel said. "I knew that."

He cleared his throat.

"So - uh - anybody I know?"

"Well, yeah. I just said I thought you might like her," Rory sighed.

"Well yeah but there's know and there's know," Angel pointed out. "Like if I just saw her in study hall once that's different from spending lots of time with her, right?"

Rory rolled her eyes. "You know her. You've spent time with her."

"So who is it?" Angel looked uncertain. "No, don't tell me. Tell me. Tell me but don't tell me?"

Rory grinned. "Can't say. If you ask me questions, I'll answer them, though."

"What's her name?"

Rory just looked at him.

"What?" Angel looked innocent. "It's a question."

"It's a bad question," Rory said plaintively. "Now, pick a good one. Ask me something else. You're making this harder than it should be."

Angel rubbed his eyes. "Um. Okay. Going out on a limb and assuming she's bigger than a breadbox. Uh - do I share classes with her? Did I?"
