Nighttime, outside the dorms

A trip into town had resulted in Sean getting everything a puppy could need to be happy, and many many things that he didn't need per se, but which were too damned cute to resist.

There had also been Christmas presents for the pooch, but those were safely hidden in the back of Angel's closet since lord knows he isn't hiding there where Sean couldn't find them.

Sean himself was currently sporting a red and green collar with, appropriately enough, a dog tag. On the tag it said "My name is SEAN. My dad's name is ANGEL."

Sean's new possessions were back in the room. In the meanwhile Angel could tell the signs of a puppy who wasn't yet ready to settle in for the night.

So they were outside, playing with a new ball, snow, and generally having more fun than you ever thought a broody vampire could have.

Behold the power of puppy.

"Hey, Zero!" Angel called out. He waved.

Hey, Angel! *Gestures toward Angel, then looks at the bird.* Vampire?

"Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto!"

Angel.

"Hunka hunka burning love!"

*grins wryly at Angel* If I ever get back to Hong Kong, I'm havin' a word with that bird seller. What's up?

"Puppy," Angel pointed to Sean, who was spending his time running in circles for no apparent reason whatsoever. "Nice bird. Yours, or did Barbossa go off again?"

Swerval. *looks at Fish* Swerrrrval?

"Swerval!" *Fish looks straight at Angel.* "Who's a pretty boy?"

Yeah, he's mine. This is Fish. I thought he was gettin' bored locked up in my dorm room.

"Nice to meet you, Fish," Angel said. He motioned towards the puppy. "That's Sean. I don't know if he's met birds before."

"Ciao! Shiver me timbers!"

I saw him in the library today. He's definitely a cutie. As long as he doesn't try to eat Fish, we're cream swerval.

"Right now my biggest worry is Faithful," Angel said. "I think I'm going to have to fight centuries of instinct to make sure he doesn't go after Faithful's tail. Or worse."

Heh, yeah, an' if I turn into a cat again, do us both a favor and keep him away from me?

"Skazhite, pozhalista, kak popast na Prospekt Stachek?"

*eyes bird suspiciously, then glances at Angel* Er. I don't suppose you'd know what language that was?

Angel frowned. "He's got a bit of an accent but it sounded like Russian."

Huh. Didn't used to speak Russian. *pokes bird* What are you playin' at?

"Adios, amigos?"

Snow?

"Swerval!"

Here's hopin' your puppy is less insane than Fish.

"Maybe he dropped in on a language class?" Angel suggested. "Where'd you get him?"

I guess so, but...*frown* We went to Hong Kong last summer. I got him while we were hidin' from MI-6.

Angel's eyebrows raised. "Sounds interesting. What'd you do?"

I didn't do anythin'! Somebody slipped this box thing in my sister's bag, an' then the thugs broke into the wrong hotel room t'get it back an' tried to hold me hostage, and then they nicked her Claude and we ran and...yeah.

Oh, no, I didn' get the mallet until I was already here. Gremlins, y'know.

"Makes sense," Angel said. "Oh! Didn't see Anakin, but talked to Rory. Asked her to pass on the message about the bell."

"Es mucho frio."

I think that means he's cold. I'd better get him back inside, yeah? Have fun with Sean!

Sean barked. Might've been a goodbye, might've been a greeting. He's young and still learning.
