Second Floor Common Room

Limping into the Common Room, Kara sits down on the couch, setting her crutches off to the side. She grabs the remote and turns on the tv. A old Christmas special comes on, and Kara is puzzled again at the Thirteenth Colony and their odd holiday.

However, she can't help but watch the adventures of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

Cally, on her way back from Shop Class, spots Kara in the common room. "Hey!" she says, waving. "Hold on just a sec, okay? I got something for you."

After hopping next door to 201, Cally returns with a silver wrapped package (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0312198302/qid=1135026084/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/103-2533248-9003068?s=books&v=glance&n=283155) with orange and black ribbon. "Merry Winter Holiday of Earth!" she says, handing over the package. She's smirking evilly.

Kara looks up at Cally cautiously. "Thanks, Cally," she says, taking the gift and opening it up.

After removing all the wrapping paper, Kara pulls out The Art of Kissing: Book of Questions and Answers. She sucks in a breath and looks up at Cally.

Anders turns very pale, not having realized what Cally had gotten for Kara. He stares at the book's title for several seconds before turning and staring at Cally.

Cally does her best innocent look. "So, Kara... do you like it? I know it's kinda personal, but... who doesn't need pointers on kissing, right? Not like we all got the best practice partner in the world, right champ?"

Kara has never felt more awkward in her life. "Right," she says, pasting on a smile.

Anders has only once in his life felt more awkward, and that was related to this, so he gulps hard and says loudly, "Right! I have presents for you. I'm gonna go get them."

He turns and bolts next door, and takes his time going through the pile for Kara's gifts, even though they're hard to mistake for any of the others.

"Oooh. I've been wondering about this. It'll be interesting to see what exactly it is. He described it so... festively." Cally's still smiling, because she's enjoying her teeny tiny measure of revenge. But she continues to play the innocent.

"Sounds great!" Kara offers as she gives Cally a huge smile, while wishing she could get the hell out here.

Also on his way back from Shop class, Anders follows Cally into the common room and stops dead in his tracks in the doorway when he spots Kara. This is so not a situation he wanted to be in right now.

"Thrace." He coughs and stares at the floor. "Hey. Glad you're up and about. Sort of."

Kara looks over at him briefly before turning back to the tv. "Hey Samuel."

Well, at least she's not looking at him, which makes things marginally better, though Anders can't help feeling vaguely insulted somehow. Still, when Cally gives Kara her present (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhighdorms/333952.html?thread=12203904#t12203904), things get uncomfortable all over again.

Noticing Kara in the common room, Cameron quickly heads to his room and retrieves a small present (http://www.dalveydepot.com/DalveyZJEL.jpg) for Kara before he joins her.

"Yo," he greets. He's only heard about her injury from the radio so his gaze automatically drifts to her leg. "How's it going?"

She shrugs. "Slowly. What's up?"

"No more finals," Cameron replies as he takes a seat on the edge of the touch and drops the present in her lap. "And I'm playing Santa."

Kara tugs at his chin. "Think you lost your beard," she says with a grin. Pulling off the wrapping paper, Kara opens up the box to reveal a new lighter. "Nice. Always losing my lighters. Thanks Cam."

"Me and facial hair don't agree," Cameron chuckles and smiles at her. "It's not much but I thought at least you could use it."

He gets distracted for a moment by a noise from the television and grins. "I didn't know you're a Rudolph fan. Maybe I should have gotten you moose slippers instead."

"It was just on," Kara replies. "Why do they call them 'raindeer', anyway? Snowdeer would make more sense if they live in the snow."

"Uh," Cameron blinks. "It's actually not rain but 'rein', as in to rein? So basically it's an animal you put in front of a sledge or something to pull you along."

Lee peeks his head in the common room as there have been all kinds of gleeful present trading going on the past few days and double takes when he sees Kara. As nonchalant as he can, he plops down on a seat next to her and smiles gently. "I was beginning to think that you had disappeared off the face of the frakkin' planet, Kara. Good to see you."

"I thought about it," Kara says, turning to him, "but here I am." She gives him a smile. "Hi."

“You look good,” he says civilly. “Can I get you anything?”

"Nah, I'm fine." Kara replies. "What's up?"

He ponders actually answering the question and goes for not. "Recovering from last night, handing out presents, finalizing my sestina for poetry class, that sort of thing," he says. "Got any plans for tonight? Or this break, for that matter?" and he watches her carefully.

"Other than spending quality time with my two new best friends," she throws a thumb in the direction of the crutches, "not so much."
