2nd Floor Common Room (Tuesday)

Elizabeth had added her poster next to Parker's.

It was her only poster at the moment. There was no point in plastering the school with them if she decided not to run in the end.

Vote Elizabeth Weir as Junior Student Council Representative

She headed back to the corner table where she had started her jigsaw puzzle last week.

She looked distracted, and occassionally glanced across at the poster. Why was she running? Was it because she felt that she should?

[[Come and help with the puzzle, or, if anyone wouldn't mind trying to talk her out of this emo funk she's got herself into, that would be very much appreciated!]]

Shep screws up his face not quite understanding. "It was quiet and unremarkable, but you don't want to think about it? You and I would have killed for a week of quiet and unremarkable a while back."

"Oh. Got it. Me either." Shep sits down and starts sorting through the puzzle pieces to see if he can find any that might go together. "Student Council, huh? Some people might accuse you of having some kind of control issue." He smiles at her. "Sophomore voting ought to be interesting. I think there are like... eight of us."

"You ran at all... you want to be in charge." Shep slouches against the couch, sticking his feet under the table. "Which is fine. 'Cause then I don't have to be."

"I'm hoping we get some more sophomores. Some more like you who like to take responsibility, because I'm afraid that some 'good natured' soul will decide that *I* need to be on the damn thing and volunteer me. It's not like that's unheard of when it comes to me." He gives her a knowing look, but then grins. He's not mad about Elizabeth going behind his back to General O'Neill - any more - but he had to get his barbs in when he could.

"Did I hear right? There's only one freshman in this entire school? That has to be bizarre."

"You don't sound very gung ho," he observed. "And yes, I have. Though there were days when I couldn't figure out why."

"And from what I've heard, the school's population is just skewed. People around here are nuts. And given what we've seen, that's saying something."

Shep studies her for a minute. "So then don't run if you don't want to. No one will die if you're not in charge. Or run and see to it that the student council actually does something substantial. It's not like you can't find ways of finding ways to get people to do what you want." He gives her that same knowing look again, only this time it's not so much teasing as a reminder that she has natural leadership skills and can get things done when she decides to.

"Why do I get the feeling by 'this' and 'here' you aren't just referring to running for student council?"

Shep looked around the room. With Cam and Lee there there were a lot of things he couldn't explain, like the Asgard-radio in his footlocker, because he was feeling a lot of the same things. "Yeah, I get that. And going 'home' for a week and then coming back can kind of reinforce that, let me tell you. But we're here now... so..." he shrugged. "I guess we make the best out of it, or we leave."

Not entirely sure what to say to that Shep was silent for a moment. Finally feeling like he had to say something he went with, "Well, then, might was well make the best of it. Do you want to run or not? Go with your gut."
