Elizabeth had added her poster next to Parker's.

It was her only poster at the moment. There was no point in plastering the school with them if she decided not to run in the end.


Vote Elizabeth Weir as Junior Student Council Representative


She headed back to the corner table where she had started her jigsaw puzzle last week.

She looked distracted, and occassionally glanced across at the poster. Why was she running? Was it because she felt that she should?

Elizabeth nods as well. "Something like that. I don't know how the voting will go, but it could just be juniors voting for the junior reps and seniors voting for the senior reps. And you never know; we still might get a junior president."

Lee smiles at her. "You should definitely run, I think."

She smiles back at him. "Really? I'm honestly not sure what I want to do at the moment."

"Why would you not run? What's stopping you?" he asks.

"I'm just not sure what the whole point is at the moment," she replies. "Will these twelve students really make a difference? And not just in chosing what color to decorate the gym in for, I don't know, the Valentine's Day dance."

Lee would ask immediately what Valentine's Day is but he's trying to be supportive, not hopelessly clueless. "Well, for one, being on the student government helps you improve all kinds of skills, like leadership and working with a group and dealing with a large student body as well as the administration. Even if it IS just deciding what color or what kinds of drinks to order." He shrugs. "Also, it looks great on a resume, eh?"

"I've done it before though," she replies. "I feel like I don't want to just replay things again and again. And I think that there's got to be a better reason than it looks good on a resume. I've done things for soley that reason before, and it just becomes this necessary thing that I have to do; not something I want to do."

Lee thinks about this a moment. "Well, if you really don't want to run, then you shouldn't. I just think you're a shoe-in candidate, really."

"Thank you for your support, Lee," she says softly. "I've not made up my mind yet, so maybe a few more people like you will be able to help my decision."

"Hey, I'd like to say I have an uncanny ability to know which of my peers are natural leaders and you have this odd older-woman, in-charge aura to you that is ridiulously attractive to me, but," and he shrugs, "I voted for you last time. Like to keep the same vote."

Elizabeth laughs. "Well, that would be two votes then," she grins. "The semester's not even started yet, so I've got a couple of days. Might see who else is running for the juniors too... other than Parker, obviously," she nods her heads towards the posters.

"Do you know anything about the voting process? How many reps we get to vote for, etc?"

"Unfortunately not. They've not told us anything... except for the fact that there's going to be elections again," she says.

"If it was up to me, I'd certainly prefer three votes corresponding to the three seats."

Lee nods. "There is a lot that our current and changing administration is not telling us. Like... class schedules for one," he grumbles.

"Well, that's the problem with changing administration, I guess," Elizabeth sighs. "But I would really like to get my classes sorted, yes."

"It would be great if we had a class together, you know?" he says.

Elizabeth nods. "Oh, definitely. What are you thinking about taking?"

"I don't know!" he says flailing. "If only we had an inkling of what classes were offered this spring!"

"Well... are you going to be looking at humanities, or sciences, or languages?" Elizabeth asks calmly.

"Humanities mostly," Lee admits sheepishly.

Elizabeth nods and smiles. "Me too. Well, them and possibily something in the languages. I'm thinking about taking a class from Ms Calendar, depending what she's going to be offering this time around."

"I haven't met Ms Calendar," Lee says. "You recommend her as a professor then?"

"I wouldn't recommend her as a professor, because I've not been taught by her," Elizabeth says. "But I've met her, and spoken to her, and she seems nice, and knows what she's talking about."

Lee nods. "Good to know. I'm pretty sure I won't be taking classes from any of my previous professors. Especially that Dr. Carter woman. Shesh."

"Ah. Yes. She is a bit..." Elizabeth searches for an appropriate word but simply comes back with "Scary."

She shrugs. "I'm pretty sure her subjects won't be anything I'm interested in."
