Room 402, mid-morning
It seemed like the arrival of the new recruits had everyone up and stirring around pretty early. Shep had been awoken by various noises both in his room and in the halls, but since none of them set off his 'impending danger' alert, he kept rolling over and going back to sleep. When he finally decided that it was time to get moving, he noticed that Han had come and gone, and that Lana had left as well. It occurred to him that it might have been a good idea to drop a note to Han about Lana staying and why... but it was Han, so no matter what he thought about the situation... he was probably right.
After taking a quick shower, Shep put on coffee in the small coffee pot he'd brought back from home and ate a granola bar. He might wander down to the Perk later, but for now that would do.
Once he felt semi-awake, he opened the door and then blocked the exit with a two and a half foot high sheet of hard plastic, held up by sticking it between his footlocker and the wall.
Walking over to the cage on the desk he opened the door, "Okay, guys, do you want to play?" Two sets of front paws obediently presented themselves so they could be taken out and put on the floor to run around. "Hm," Shep muttered, "Maybe I should have told Han about them too..." Oh well, too late now. He had to have noticed them last night. Grabbing the white board marker Shep scribbled out quickly:
Small animals under foot.
Feel free to come in (just step over the barrier),
but watch where you put your feet.
He then set about changing the food bowl, giving them some more water and scooping out the litter box.
[Open to everyone: come chat; play with cute, fuzzy critters; hang out, whatever.]

As Shep wanders about he'll find a note left by Lana.
"Hey, sorry to slip out so early. I just woke up and couldn't get back to sleep and didn't want to wake you. I've got some stuff to do, but I'm sure I'll catch up to you later. If not, maybe we can at least grab dinner together or something.
Hope it was okay that I stayed even though Han was here. I figured, well... it was *Han* so...
Anyway, I'll see you later.
Love,
Lana"
[OOC2: Mun will be home around 5EST.]

Shep finds the note, reads over it and tosses it on the desk, next to the cage, in the pile of papers he needed to sort through from last term to see what he needed to hang on to. He'd find Lana later and they could go to Deb's or something.
[ooc: I couldn't assume you were IN the room, since I know you're at work, so I had to assume you were out. :) Catch you when you get home.]

"Up and out, back this evening. And kids, next time wait until I'm gone or ask me to join."
He's perfectly aware that only sleeping happened last night, but is feeling ornery this morning.

"Yeah, let me round these guys up and we can walk over there. Just a second."
[ooc: I'll set up a new thread for the practice range/lock up. I need to check and see if anyone can open that or if we need faculty to do that]

"Okay, let's go lock up those 'theoreticals'," he tells Pip.
