Second floor common room, late Thursday morning

Aeryn's trying to be accessible, really. She's making an effort.

So far that effort includes shaking her head at the television trying to figure out who actually watches some of this stuff and why so many women have to take their husbands on Maury for paternity tests. And yes, this means the Nerf gun has come back out. Because television people really can be that stupid and shooting Nerf missiles keeps Aeryn's head from hurting.

[Because it's hard to socialize my girl, yo. Come say hi.]

"Considering I can't drive it on the island?" Parker drawled. "Yes." She shrugged again. "Seriously, a card, chocolates from Wonka's that aren't cursed, whatever. How about everyone call me by my correct name?" she added, pouting.

"Gimme a moment to brainstorm," Cameron said and raised an eyebrow. "Have you told them to stop? In a none provoking way that might keep them going?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"...maybe." Parker looked torn, and grimaced. "I keep losing my temper when it comes up."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah. Do you... Would you want me to have a go at it?" He offered, not entirely sure what he would say anyway, but it was clearly bugging her.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"What, asking people not to call me by my first name?" Parker smiled, touched, then sighed. "Thanks. But no, you don't have to. Rory was offering to have them call her 'Lorelai' instead of Rory, too. I need to get over it, I know that. I'm just feeling exposed at the moment."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"You know, this might just be the way for you to get used to things," Cameron tried.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe," Parker grumbled. "I just wish people would quit saying 'it's not an ugly name' or 'why does it bother you'. That's not the point." She slouched down on the couch, petting Esme, who was eyeing the edge of Cam's shirt like she thought it might be edible. "Thanks, though."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Cameron shrugged. "It was my first thought too, people are bound to wonder. It's kinda hard to stop," he said and eyed Esme. "She looks hungry to me."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"She's *always* hungry. She hops around her little hutch like the Energizer bunny so she's not fat, but I swear I don't think she ever stops eating." Parker shook her head, and pushed Cam's shirt out of the way. "Not nutritious, no," she told Esme.

"I just..." Several days of dealing with this have made Parker a little less reticent. "It reminds me of my mom. I'd rather not be. Okay?"

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe she needs a friend," Cameron suggested and patted Esme while his player flails and tells him he'll get bitten like that as bunnies are evil.

"Alright," he said gently. "Your mom's...?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Great, two of them to nibble on their walls, looking like they're planning a breakout." Parker cocked an eyebrow. "Then again, maybe that *would* distract her. Do you want a friend?" she asked Esme. "A parter in crime?"

Esme wiggled her nose and did not comment, instead choosing to hop off the couch and explore the edges of a cushion.

"Gone." Parker didn't look at Cam when she said this, but her voice was tight. "Six years ago. We don't talk about it much."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Distracted by Esme, Cameron's head snapped up when she said that. "Gone as in left?" He asked carefully, wondering if she'd strangle him now.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Gone as in dead." Parker leaned down to pick up Esme, her hair hiding her face. She didn't look at Cam when she cradled Esme close, stroking her ears back. "It was sudden, there were problems, it was rough. Anyway. That's why the name thing, she's the one that picked it out. Which I'm not explaining to everyone." She smiled just a little at Cam, looking slightly shaky. "Rory tried to ask, but I was too mad then. Everyone else just told me to deal. So, ha. You're so lucky I told you. Sorry."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hey, I got the bruises. I'm thinking I worked for it," he tried to joke. He reached over and squeezed her arm for a moment. Normally he'd offer a hug, but again, Parker might kill him. "I get it, it's rough and I can imagine you don't want to explain this to everyone. So... I can call you Parkie and try to distract them?" He offered, just trying to get her to smile.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
She laughed, still a little shaky, but getting there. "God. It's been months since that. I still haven't seen the photographic evidence, aside from one shot John sent to taunt me." Parker nodded, grateful. "Sure. Parkie I can handle. Thanks."

She patted his hand, then stood up. "I should go find my new Little Sibling. He's from the eleventh century, and I left him with DEATH last night. I'm wondering if he's going to be catatonic when I show up this morning."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"I wouldn't say that out loud, it might pop up any time now." Cameron warned and nodded.

"Hey, at least then he'll be prepared for what's to come. I haven't even seen my Little Sibling yet, one day and I'm already a bad brother."

He grinned. "I'll catch you later, Parkie."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"With my luck..." Parker rolled her eyes, then growled at the nickname. "Grrr. Mitchell--" She grinned. "Thanks. Later."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-05 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Cameron laughed and waved at her. "Bye, Parker."
