Gym - Saturday Evening

Victor entered the gym for the first time, and was amazed at the amount of equipment available. Since it was empty, he found a bench and began to strip down to his workout clothes. He removed his jacket and shirt and pants, revealing a grey a-shirt and blue gym shorts. He carefully folded his clothes and, leaving them on the bench, went to go work out.

He warmed up with a few streches, then jogged around a bit to get a better idea of the gym itself. By the time he reached his clothes again, no one else had come in yet, so he decided to do some of the exercises that he had learned at Xavier's.

Concentrating, he hopped in place for a little bit to ready himself. Then, he took off in a sprint toward the nearest wall. Except, instead of running into it, he began to run up it, using his powers and momentum to stay upright. He turned slightly, and continued his jog along the wall, circling the perimeter as if it was horizonal terrain.

[ooc: feel free to interact if you want. Vic's just trying to stay in shape...his own way. :D]

"Cool," says Anders, and laughs nervously. "Good to hear it. I was getting kinda worried about that."

He sits down across from her and starts in on his own warmup stretches. "You, uh, mind if I join you?"

Kara gives him a small smile and says, "Just like old times, right?"

The smile throws him. It's not forced and it's not sarcastic, like the ones he's gotten so used to seeing from her since the accident. He's not complaining; he's sick of the fighting and constant tension between them, and this is a welcome change.

"Just like old times," Anders agrees after a moment. "Any minute now you'll be kicking my ass again, and I'm gonna go home with half a dozen bruises."

Kara laughs quietly. "Don't count on it."

"True," he concedes, grinning. "Could end up being one of the nights where I end up kicking your ass."

He finishes his warmups, then gets to his feet and offers a hand to help her up. "Good to see you in a good mood, Thrace. Gonna do my best to not ruin it."

Kara merely gives him another smile and grabs his hand to stand up.

"Up you go, Thrace," says Anders, pulling with just enough leverage to help her to her feet. "What now? Low impact stuff, or are you ready to start with some weights work yet?"

"I was going to try the bike today," Kara replies. "Mostly been working with this big rubberband thing the Doc gave me."

"Bike sounds good. I've seen those rubberband things before. They kinda creep me out a little bit." Anders laughs. "Bikes it is. C'mon."

He leads the way over to the stationary equipment and picks out a pair of adjacent bikes, making sure to set their water bottles within reach. As he throws a leg over the seat and adjusts the settings, he looks over at Kara and winks. "Word of advice? If you get on the treadmill, guard the buttons or make sure Crichton's not around. He nearly killed me playing with the speed dials last week."

"He's a troublemaker," laughs Kara. "It amazes me Aeryn can put up with him." Kara sets the resistance on low to begin and gets started.

Anders snickers. "He's the one who suggested the whole Strip Triad thing. And dragged me on that insane Christmas shopping trip. And keeps trying to get me to make nice with Archie Kennedy, and what the frak is up with that?"

He shakes his head and tweaks the resistance setting on his bike a little bit. "I'm kinda surprised Aeryn hasn't killed him yet. He's insane. But he is a good guy, really."

Looking directly at Kara, he says quietly, "There's a lot of good people here."

Kara meets his gaze. "Yeah, there are. I guess we're pretty lucky," she says, then, smirking, "when we're not being attacked by zombies." She raises the resistance a bit. "What's with you and Archie, anyway?

Re: Down in the Gym

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Anders doesn't want to jinx anything by saying that the zombies were a one-time-only thing, so he doesn't. It's his one moment of stunning intelligence for the day, really.

"No idea," he says, frowning a little bit. "He keeps taking little potshots at me. I know he kissed Cally once, like before Homecoming or something. Everybody else says he's a nice guy, but not to me."

"Some people just rub each other the wrong way," she says. Kara's starting to feel the strain in her knee now, but she pedals through it.

Maybe he shouldn't ask it, but he has to know.

"Like I do to you?"

Re: Down in the Gym

[identity profile] pyramid-is-life.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
Kara stops pedaling at his words and leans over the handlebars. "No." They might as well get this over with now.

She takes a deep breath and looks up at him, saying, "Samuel, look, I get that your concerned. I appreciate it. But, I can take care of myself and I don't need someone telling me what to do. That's what rubs me the wrong way."

Re: Down in the Gym

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
Anders has also stopped pedaling and is likewise leaning over the handlebars, looking back at her.

"I get that, actually," he says. "If it was the other way around, I'd probably be getting mad at you for it, too. It's just . . . well, believe it or not, I miss you kicking my ass on the court a few times a week."

He takes a long, slow breath. "But I'll stop. With the pushing you, I mean. At least, I'll try."

Re: Down in the Gym

[identity profile] pyramid-is-life.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
Kara laughs, relieved that it didn't turn into another argument. "I'll have to think of another way to kick your ass." Sobering, she says, "Thanks, Samuel."

Re: Down in the Gym

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Sure thing, Thrace," he replies quietly. "And knowing you? You'll come up with ten new ways to kick my ass."

Re: Down in the Gym

[identity profile] pyramid-is-life.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Only ten? Really, Samuel, give me more credit than that," says Kara, as she starts pedaling again.

Re: Down in the Gym

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Fine, fine." Anders rolls his eyes, sets the resistance on his bike up a notch, and gets back to pedaling. "Ten new ways a week. Just go easy with the bruising, will you? It gets Cally kinda upset."

Re: Down in the Gym

[identity profile] pyramid-is-life.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll keep that it mind," she murmurs.
