5th floor common kitchen - Monday - early morning - International House of Pippi

Pippi is back in the kitchenette attached to the 5th floor common room. She's making pancakes.
When they're ready on one side she throws them up into the air where they flip over rather then sticking to the ceiling, and land back on the iron grittle she's set up on the stove. (Okay, one of them sticks to the ceiling. She leaves it there incase the birds come back. Nobody will notice right?)
When they're done on both sides, she flips them over her shoulder and they fly across the room, landing where a large wooden platter sits on the table.
She's making a crapload of pancakes.
There's sirrup with a lable in sweedish, and under a stray pancake you'll find a jar of Scottish Marmalade. There's also butter that looks like it's from the Emporium (and not imported to fandom in Pippi's luggage thank goodness.)
There's an old coffee pot also on the counter with a strainer and a sign warning that she makes her coffee the old fashioned way like a proper Pirate should, so use the strainer between the pot and your cup when you poor... It all smells quite good.

[[ooc: open to anybody, have some Pancakes! I have stuff to do this morning, but I shouldn't take very long in getting back to you.]]

Given Paige really do cooking unless absolutely required (or if she was trying to impress someone by making out she could be domesticated) she was on her way into town to look for food when the scent hit her.

She wandered in and smiled at the new girl, "morning," she said with a yawn.

[identity profile] the4thsister.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Paige smiled, "no we've not met yet I'm Paige Matthews, sophomore and erm I've been here since the start and everything you've been told is probably true."

She looked over at the pancakes which looked significantly than the ones she'd once cooked. "Thanks Pippi, that's really nice of you, and it's nice to meet you." she said taking a couple and putting them on a plate with a little butter.

"So how are you liking it here?"

[identity profile] the4thsister.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Well they aren't burnt so Paige is already impressed.

"Yeah you probably do I've only met him a couple of times, but yeah I'd say stay out of trouble cos I'm pretty sure he's more to actions now talk later kinda...ball."

She nods at what Pippi says about not having success at school, "Yeah was kinda...kicked out of my last school, that's how I ended up here."

She looks over at the new guy, "I haven't no," she says turning to address him.

((I'll join the lower thread now then :) ))

((well I refresh a lot so all talking works for me and if me and Walter replies at the same just reply to whoever last posted and I'll pick it up) but due to different timings we could both, ie have this convo then have the joint one after, I'm easy really (no not like that))

"Yeah that doesn't really seem like anything you'd need to know unless you're planning to go work for the farmer or something. So what classes are you taking here?"

Getting ready to fill his face with pancakes, Walter waves his fork at Paige and smiles. "Good morninng. I'm Walter. Another new face, if you haven't guessed."

[identity profile] the4thsister.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Paige smiles, "Yeah I didn't think I'd seen you before, Paige, pleased to meet you." she replies

"You a Freshman too?"

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes. Fresh from one island to another," Walter says with an unmistakable British accent. "But it's been fun here so far."

[identity profile] the4thsister.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
She nods, it's a good job she's over the whole British guy thing she had a while back really.

"Yeah it's never dull," she replies, "I'm assuming you've heard all about the zombies and gremlins right?"

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Someone sent me cans of gremlin repellant yesterday, and zombies..." Walter makes a derisive noise. "Old hat."

[identity profile] the4thsister.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"They have gremlin repellant? I didn't know that? I should maybe get some, cos seriously the idea of being bitten and going batshit crazy doesn't appeal to me much."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"I received two cans. If you want one, I'll bring it up for you. I don't think I'll really need both of them." He chews for a moment and looks at her appraisingly.

"Define 'batshit crazy.'"

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good morning, Pippi. Is it your turn to cook? I'll trade you some leftover shepherd's pie in the third floor refrigerator for a few pancakes."

Of course, when Walter says a few, that means that he will be attempting to fill a seemingly bottomless pit.

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"Brilliant! Thanks." Walter grabs a plate and shovels a pile of pancakes onto it.

"You want to study after sixth period? Then I'll help out with the pizza. Or the cleanup."

[identity profile] the4thsister.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Paige raises an eyebrow, "You're going to Lock 237? Seriously like by choice?"

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
If it were anyone but Pippi, Walter might have bristled quite a lot at the inference, but there's something about the girl that makes bristling nigh impossible.

"You're right. The next time we plan something we want to keep secret from other people, we'll do it someplace private."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good word. Poor execution." Walter says with a laugh and a headshake before starting to work on his pancakes. "Well, just in case we end up in another world. I want to at least get tonight's homework from my teachers first."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, one should."

With little effort Walter makes a prodigious number of pancakes disappear and sits back in his seat looking quite content other than the cigarette he's walking across his knuckles instead of smoking. He's long ago learned that girls have a tendency to cough and act annoyed around the smoke.
