Fourth Floor Common Room, evening
Han was sick of nutribars. He decided to give the kitchenette in the common room a test run. Slartibartfast had done a good job with him last semester and he was a decent cook. Just decent, not spectacular.
Tonight, he had decided to try burritos. Meat, legumes, savory fruit and cheese in a flat-bread wrap. How hard could it be? The ground turkey sizzled away, the package of grated cheese and cans of refried beans and ro-tel mexican fiesta tomatoes stood at hand. The torillas are nearby ready to be filled.
He'd gotten the holo-player hooked to the TV and Quest for the Treasure of Xim was playing. He gave half an ear to the search for the legendary ghost-ship The Queen of Ranroon and the rest of his attention to the cooking
[[ooc: open to anyone who feels like wandering in. There's food and swashbuckling.]]

He's busily opening the packet of smokey chipotle taco seasoning with his teeth as he adds a half-cup of water with his other hand, trying to keep the turkey from scorching.

She looks at him with some amusement as he tries to manage everything at once. "You need a hand there?"

"So what's got you too upset to eat?"
no subject
"And now Maia's even more upset about it and Paige and Sawyer are fighting about what happened in the pool and... God. I can't even stay in my own room! I mean, not that I don't like staying with Shep, but... I can't stay with you guys forever."
"Got home last night after self-defense class and found Paige gone, though I guess she came back later. There was no way I was staying alone with Sawyer after all this - I never would have said he could move in if I'd known this would happen - so I ended up crashing in one of the common rooms for the night. Which Shep will so kill me for if he finds out."

He goes over to where she's sitting and drops to one knee in front of her and takes her hands. "Lana, look. You can stay with me and Shep just as long as you need to, okay? This mess has to sort itself out." He stands up and kisses the top of her head before going back to his cooking.
"Not too fond of Sawyer. He talks big but there's not much behind it. We got into that snowball fight, right? Maia took two snowballs in the face. Bagoas took a couple. I took a couple. But him? Paige stopped it before it could hit him and he cussed me out for my aim. So here's big bad Sawyer, can't even take a snowball like two girls and a eunuch."
Han turns off the heat and moves the pan. "Doesn't surprise me he'd hit a little thing like Maia." He puts a burrito together with excessive force. "That kind of thing--hurting people who are littler than you--is the worst kind of bad."

She sighs when she thinks about Sawyer. "Yeah, I know he's had a tough life and I think he really does love Paige and means to do well, but... He's got a really bad temper. It's not the first time I left my room and slept somewhere else because of him, but we'd gotten that all worked out. The thing on New Year's and then him and Maia in the pool... I don't know."
She shakes her head. "I don't want to talk about it anymore. I don't want to *think* about it anymore. I just spent way too much time and energy down in the gym running and beating the hell out of a punching bag trying not to think about it. Just... distract me. Tell me where you learned to cook or what this movie's about or *anything*."

She sighed, poured out a bit more glitter into her palm, and threw it in Han and Lana's direction.
"Cheer up, emo kids!" she called, bouncing down the hall.

"I got the flu, but other than that...I'm settling in great. Life here is pretty good!"
no subject
"I'm sorry you caught the flu though, how miserable for your first week of classes!"

He offers the plate as he glances at the screen. "It's called Quest for the Treasure of Xim. That ship is the Queen of Ranroon. She was the biggest treasure ship ever built in her era, about 300 years ago. On her maiden voyage to the vaults of Xim, she vanished. No one knows how or why. Some people say they've seen her even as recently as five years ago. This is a holo-thriller, kind of an adventure movie, about some folks who go looking."

After chewing and swallowing he grinned. "Cool, sounds like a great movie."

He grins, "That's assuming human skulls are built the same in every galaxy."
