Rooms 239/240: Moving Day [After Classes]

Even though Marty was given an invitation to move into Room 239/240 by Jack on Sunday, it wasn't until today that Marty finally found the time to pack up his belongings and start the migration to his new digs down the hall.

Sure... Some people would say he was crazy to give up a single but Marty couldn't resist the opportunity to figure out what those Colorado Refugees were trying to hide from the rest of the school.

Marty picked up his first box and looked over to Camilla.

"C'mon girl. Let's go meet our new roomies."

So together Marty and his pet chicken started the migration down the hallway.

[Open to all to want to help Marty move... and the unsuspecting residents of 239/240 of course]

Janet bolted upright and leapt out of bed, looking around for the source of the noise. "What the hell?" she asked, crossing her arms and glaring at Marty.

She also didn't remember that she was wearing shorts and a tank top covered with goofy-looking cartoon fishes.

"Roomie?" asked Janet. She glanced at the clock. It was way too early on a Friday to be dealing with this. "What do you mean, roomie? You--" She glanced down at her tank top. Oh, damn. Why had she thought it would be a good idea to actually wear those pajamas?

"Wait, how-- Why are you moving in here?" asked Janet, still glaring at him and trying desperately to remember if she had put her laundry away. Otherwise, the basket of clean clothing was sitting in her closet with the portable defibrillator--and she really didn't want Marty to see that. "How did you get the idea to change rooms? Didn't you have a single?"

"No, I didn't know about this!" exclaimed Janet. "Do I look like I knew about this?"

She looked pretty damn goofy in her stupid pajamas, but she wasn't going to say that.

Janet groaned. "What's wrong with my cartoon fish?" They had looked better on the hanger. "And what gave you the crazy idea to move into our room?"

Janet glanced down again. "I don't think any of these are tuna," said Janet. "Possibly they're not even real species of fish."

Sam, who had followed behind Marty, made a serious of hand motions to Janet that tried to convey "you're wearing cartoon fish" and "Marty's moving in" all at the same time.

She probably just looked like she was practicing for the mosh pit at the dance that night, though.

Janet gave Sam a really confused look that was not helped by the fact that she hadn't had coffee yet today.

Sam shrugged and grinned, leaning back against the doorframe to watch the show.

Janet was going to get Sam back for this. Somehow.

Possibly she'd bribe the chef into serving nothing but red Jell-o for the rest of the school year.

"What?" Janet went to shoo the chicken off her bed. "Off my bed! Off!" She'd planned on some quality sleeping time this morning and now she had to deal with muppet chickens instead?

"They do not pay me enough to deal with this without coffee," muttered Janet. Not that they were paying her. But for this, they should be, damn it.

"How the heck does your chicken knit without opposable thumbs, Marty?"

"Get off my bed!" exclaimed Janet. "There are two extra beds in the room that no one occupies! Or there's Marty's bed." She went to pick up Camilla and move her to Marty's bed.

"I don't need socks," said Janet. "What I need is your chicken out of my nice, warm bed!" Something occurred to her. "Do you have a litterbox or something for her?"

"Please," said Janet, trying not to think about how she's asking a Muppet chicken to stop knitting on her bed.

If Janet had known, she might have apologized. She didn't have that many sweaters. But she'd been surprised, and woken up, and she didn't have coffee. So right now, she didn't care.

Aeryn was really going to be confused by the chicken.
