Rooms 239/240: Moving Day [After Classes]

Even though Marty was given an invitation to move into Room 239/240 by Jack on Sunday, it wasn't until today that Marty finally found the time to pack up his belongings and start the migration to his new digs down the hall.

Sure... Some people would say he was crazy to give up a single but Marty couldn't resist the opportunity to figure out what those Colorado Refugees were trying to hide from the rest of the school.

Marty picked up his first box and looked over to Camilla.

"C'mon girl. Let's go meet our new roomies."

So together Marty and his pet chicken started the migration down the hallway.

"I could have been wearing nothing," said Janet. "Wouldn't that have been embarrassing?"

"What? You wear nothing around Jack? No wonder he's such a perv."

"Jack's a perv because he's Jack," said Janet. "What do I care if I change around him? He's family, remember?"

"Jack's not a..." She blushed, remembering. "Er, nevermind, carry on with what you were saying."

Janet gave Sam a knowing look. "I think I was saying your boyfriend's a pervert."

"Right. Carry on."

"Where do you really go from there?" asked Janet. She snickered at Sam.

Sam grinned goofily. "Oh, there's places, trust me."

"So?" asked Janet. "We don't have to make him suffer any more?"

"For that? No." She stuck her tongue in her cheek. "But I'm sure other opportunities will arise, so don't throw out the plan just yet."

"Thank God," said Janet, going over to hug Sam. "And it's Jack. I never abandon plans to make him suffer. I just delay them. Though I'll have to reduce the degree of suffering on this particular plan, I think."

Sam hugged Janet back, briefly, then snagged a sip of her coffee. "I say this as his loving girlfriend, but I really think he needs his butt kicked on a regular basis so he doesn't do stupid stuff. He gets bored."

Not like she needed to tell Janet that particular piece of information.

There was something odd about the conversation Marty just heard, but he couldn't put his finger on it.

Janet found nothing odd about the conversation. But she was pretty sure Marty was developing a facial tic of some kind.

"Hopefully you would have realized that before getting out of bed though. But yes. It would have been."

Elizabeth was very glad she'd woken up and gone for a run that morning.

"Given that Marty dropped everything when he walked in the room," said Janet, glaring at Marty. "And you know what I'm like ~~during an emergency~~ ~~during an unscheduled offworld activation~~ when I get startled, maybe not," said Janet. She sighed and pushed her hair behind her ears. She was starting to remember why she'd kept it short when she was an adult.

"Where'd you go this morning, anyway?"

"Of course at this point, I'd have to be asking why you were naked," Elizabeth pointed out, trying not to grin.

"Running, with Cam," she replied, eying Marty before unzipping her wind jacket.

"Luckily, I wasn't, so you don't need to ask," said Janet quickly. Thank God that Daniel never spent the night in the room. That would have been embarrassing.

"Sounds like fun," said Janet. "If a little too early for me. Especially on a Friday."

Elizabeth tried not to snicker.

"It was good, although I'm going to be sore tomorrow. Breaks in routine are bad. I should know that by now."

Janet just grinned at Liz.

"I'm trying to get back into the habit of running," she said. "Though probably during lunch. Sam and I were talking about it, if you ever miss in the morning and want to come along at noon?"

Elizabeth nodded. "Sounds like a good plan. Don't think I'll be joining you this lunchtime, but for the future, it's duly noted."

She placed her coffee down, and, ignoring Marty, started to stretch. "After Sunshine moved out, I was thinking of swimming, but not now. Wait until summer and go down to the ocean and swim there instead."

"No, not today," said Janet. "Not after running once already. ~~Morning runs work better for your timezone anyway.~~"

"Didn't I hear something about the pool needing to be de-cootiefied?" asked Janet, grimacing. "That's never a good sign. Ooh, swimming in the ocean. That sounds like fun. Did I tell you I picked up a new bikini in Florida over break?"

~~Alas, that is true. Stupid timezone~~ "I'm gonna go and talk to the admin about a track team, or something, ready for spring," Elizabeth said, dropping down into the splits. "Maybe if we get a sports team, Jaye can have her pep rally." She laughed, slightly evilly.

"Something along those lines. I really don't want to know," she pulled a disgusted face, which then changed to curiosity. "No, you didn't. Did he like it?"

"Jaye's not the pep rally type," said Janet. "Which means she's got something fun and highly against the rules planned for it, doesn't she? A track team is a good idea, though. I think our hockey team has sort of died."

"A whole lot," said Janet. "Oh, God! I still haven't told you who we saw! Though--" She glanced over at Marty. "Maybe not right now."
