Second Floor Common Room - Tuesday Evening

Bemoaning the lack of a common room on her own floor, Alanna moved one floor up. She happily claimed a squishy portion of the couch and began reading for class. Faithful, for once not asleep, was stalking imaginary mice around the room, every once in a while jumping on one.

Blair walked into the common room carrying a tiny pot (http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a144/footontheground/LS020531.jpg) with dirt in it.

"Hey, man! Whatcha reading?"

"Cool. Yeah, I am." Blair sat on the floor and set his pot of dirt in front of him. "Blair Sandburg, freshman. Nice to meet ya." He looked down briefly and pointed. "This is my new plant. It's just a seed right now, but eventually it's going to be a plant. Do you know any good names for plants?"

"I thought everybody did, but apparently not. I just don't know how people talk to them without giving them a name first." Blair shrugged. "Yeah, I guess I did. Kinda weird and stuff, but I did."

When the cat jumped into his lap, he grinned and petted it gently. "Aren't you beautiful?"

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Alanna. Congratulations on being elected! And talking to plants is a good way to relax and vent."

"You're welcome." Blair smiled for a second until he realized that it wasn't Alanna who responded. He looked down at his lap with wide eyes. "Did you, um, say something?"

Blair stared at the cat and then Alanna and then back at the cat.

"Well, okay. Do you mind if I pet you, um...sorry, do you have a name?"

Blair smiled and petted him softly. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Faithful. I don't suppose I'm speaking cat, am I? You're just speaking human? Because I think if I sponteanously learned cat, it would be worth extra credit in creature language class."

Blair looked up at Fandom. "It's good. Really different, but cool. I got a job and got elected and met tons of people and got the flu and I'm a TA and did a sit-in." Blair bounced.

"Oh well, it would have been cool to show Professor Dream that."

Blair looked up at Alanna. "A sit-in? It's a protest. You just sit somewhere and don't move, it's a way to make your point heard without using violence. I did the sit-in outside of the Dean's office on Friday to protest the gremlins being killed."

"Angela wrote a petition and lots of people signed it, and I hung up posters and gave out flyers too. But a sit-in gives you visibility and if more people than just me had showed up...some power too."

Edward wanders in the common room, a soccer ball under his arm.

Edward obediently dropped the ball, trying to determine if the cat had actually talked, or if he was imagining it. Knowing this place, either option was likely.

The cat was talking to him. Edward took this in a stride and nodded. "Go ahead, I can repair it if need be." He wondered what Al would make of this.
