VICTORY PARTY! - Second Floor Common Room

The monsters are defeated, and Rory and Parker have been sprung from the clinic.

Both girls made brief stops in their rooms for candy, snack food and drinks, and piled everything on the counter of the common room kitchen.

The TV's on, sound muted, and the stero's blaring "We Are the Champions."

Come celebrate kicking their cold, white asses, people.

"They sang to you?" Rory asked, gingerly leaning back against the couch and not moving her leg.

"Yup. Achy-breaky something. There was also dancing, which Logan'll tell you was horrible, and something about letting dogs out."

He opened his eyes. "Also, they were throwing things. So double-y evil."

Rory began to shake with laughter, wincing slightly as she moved her shoulder. She didn't stop laughing for a couple seconds though.

"Oh, God. Why?" she finally managed.

"Because they were evil?" Anakin smiled. "I didn't ask them. I also didn't ask why Shep had a mullet wig with him."

He closed his eyes again. "I've learned not to ask a lot of things."

"Because he's Shep," Rory supplied, still giggling. "I'm not surprised."

"Guess 'because he's Shep' could also cover why he was peeing on the snow sharks," Anakin commented.

He sighed. "It's been a really long day."

He opened his eyes and looked at Rory. "So what were things like on the roof. Um, before the evil snowballing wielding bastard knocked you out of the fight, I mean?"

"Not going to touch that one," Rory commented. "'Because he's Shep' can cover just about everything he does, I think."

She smiled. "Um, it wasn't too awful. We had the advantage up there, obviously. And I got to use coffee not only as a weapon, but a restorative, too. Jack had the idea of the oil. Coffee was me, of course. Angela hurt her hand, though, and Cordelia got scraped up. But none of us actually got badly injured, I think. Lee and I were the only ones who had to stay in the gym once we got there."

"The oil was genius," Anakin said, nodding. "And so was the coffee. We had Bel, you know, with his flaming, and Logan with a flame thrower, then a lot of guns that just kind of made them cranky. Jumping on them was almost as effective, really, and what kind of battle strategy is that?"

He smiled. "How did you use coffee as a restorative?"

"Lee took a magic snowball or something to the face, and ended up blue," Rory said seriously. "So I dumped my coffee on him, and it thawed him right out. Of course, we were so distracted with that that we ended up both getting hit with more snowballs," she pointed to her shoulder again, "but still. This weekend rules over zombie weekend so much, oh my God."

"I don't have to replace my robes for one thing," Anakin said, nodding. "Zombie goo just never washed out, you know? And Lee turned blue? Not a good color for him, I'm betting."

He shivered. "Sorry. Took a shower before I came down here, but it's gonna take me a bit to warm up." He shrugged, then winced at the pain in his shoulder. "Part of growing up in the desert. And this didn't really endear me to the white stuff."

Rory smiled. "I'm kinda cold, too, so hang on and I'll get us a blankie." She started to get up, leaning on the couch rather than allow her left leg to support any weight.

Anakin gave her a look. "Don't even think about moving that knee." He held out his hand. "Give me the key and I'll go get a blanket."

Rory was too tired to fight, and handed him her key. "The blue one I was dragging around yesterday works, I think."

Anakin lifted her leg off of her lap. "I'll be right back," he said.

He left the common room, returning a few minutes later with a blue blanket.

He sat back down on the sofa and put Rory's leg back onto his lap, then tucked the blanket around both of them.

Nice thing about blankets? If she were to, say, try to hold his hand underneath it, no one would be able to see.

Rory knew that was the nice thing about blankets, actually. Which is why she did not suggest he bring back two. So there might have been a small, thin hand gently threading its fingers through Anakin's.

"So how were things on the ground?" Rory asked, tilting her head at him.

He squeezed her hand. "Pretty ugly at points," he said honestly. "Most of us got banged up at a least a little."

Rory winced. "Just your shoulder though?" She raised a brow. "Anyone get seriously hurt?"

"Sam got beaned in the back of the head by a coffee mug of all things. Lot of blood. Then she got bit by a snow shark."

Anakin snuggled a little more under the covers. If that brought him closer to Rory, well, these things happen. "Everyone thing else was pretty much bumps and bruises. And the cold."

Rory froze.

"Oops," she said softly.

"Oops?" Anakin repeated. "What?"

"I think I know where the coffee mug came from," Rory said, biting her lip.

"The roof," Anakin replied promptly. He looked at Rory. "You know who threw it?"

"Someone who has horrible aim and was throwing mugs," Rory said, slumping lower. "Do you know if she's okay?"

"Last I saw she and Shep were hobbling off to the clinic together, so I don't know. I was going to check on her tomorrow." Anakin looked hard at Rory. "Why?"

"Might've been me. An accident. I had no idea I hit anything but monsters, but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who was throwing mugs," Rory said guiltily, slouching more.
