Third floor common room, Sunday after 11:00am

Walter came in with an electric blanket, a heating pad, a teapot, tea, and schoolbooks stacked in his arms. Pup trotted closely at his heels while he set up the blanket on the couch, plugged in the heating pad for the clingy hellpuppy, and put on hot water for tea.

It was a good day to get some studying done, watch mindless TV, drink hot tea, and generally be happy to not have been killed by animated snow the day before.

"Why would I mind?" Walter raised an eyebrow at Victor and turned back to pull his Sociology book out of his back and start reading.

He didn't really care about his homework, but the company was good.

"Just being considerate," Victor replied, and started reading over his boyfriend's shoulder.

"Yes. You are." Walter read until he was sure he was going to throw the book out the window and then did throw it on the floor. "I guess today's quiet to make up for yesterday."

"Quiet's not always a bad thing," Victor replied, kissing Walter on the cheek. "It's nice to spend a day wihtout having to worry about anything. It's weird, yeah, but look at it this way: we can worry about stuff tomorrow.

So, do you need a break?" he asked, massaging his boyfriend's arms.

"Yeah. There's only so long I want to stare at a book without a break." Walter fished a piece of gum out of his bag and offered one to Victor. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm okay. The pain's pretty dull, but you're here, so it all evens out." He took the gum and frowned. "What, you trying to say my breath stinks?" he teased.

"No. And you're just hoping I'll use the excuse to check." Walter grinned and twisted around to give Victor a quick kiss before popping the piece of gum in his mouth. He wanted a cigarette. The gum would have to do.

Victor smiled and ate the gum, giving Walter a hug as he chewed. "Well, what do you wanna do, then? I'm pretty immobile, and even if I weren't you'd probably tie me to the couch or something. ~~which does NOT give Victor an idea for next Friday~~ We could always watch TV."

"TV. After Grissom's class I've decided to call watching TV sociological research. It sounds better."

Walter threw out a wire to snag the TV remote off the television and flipped it on ~~while his mun desperately wished for that list of IG TV programs~~, beginning to surf and groaning every time he came across Bitterwoman.

"Not a Bitterwoman fan?" Victor asked as Walter surfed. The History Channel flipped by, and Victor got an idea. "Hey...what's your favorite food, anyway? I know you like British food, obviously, but what's your favorite?"

"It's quite simple, actually, there's a stew called Cock and Bull stew and it's my favorite."

He flipped through the channels and ended up on Mr. What. People had proper accents.

Victor had to bite his lip to keep from laughing. He had promised to not make fun of British food for a week. Or was that week over? He couldn't remember.

"Um...so what's it...made out of?" he asked, still trying to keep a straight face.

"Chicken, chunks of beef, tomatoes, potatoes, spices. It's just a good hearty stew." Walter was watching the television with something approximating a straight face.

"Wow," Victor replied, genuinely shocked. "That actually sounds really good. I'd love to try it sometime."

He absently rubbed his thumb along Walter's belly and leaned forward to kiss the other boy on the head.

"Maybe I'll make someing for you, too, one of these days. Anything 'American' you've been wanting to try?"

"Is there such a thing as 'American' food?" Walter teased, leaning back against Victor's uninjured shoulder. "I thought American food was really just borrowed from other countries?"

"Well, yeah, we usually do that," Victor admitted. "But still...maybe one of these nights we could cook for each other. Y'know...have some fun in the kitchen."

He leaned in close and said in Walter's ear, "I mean, I gotta impress you with something other than my tongue." He licked Walter's ear to enhance the point.

Walter had been so worried about Victor that this was the first time he had other reasons to be grateful that Victor's tongue had already regenerated.

He was very grateful.

"Sounds like fun. In the common room, though, we'd better be ready to feed everyone."

"Yeah, true. We'll just have to grab enough from the store, then. I just got my allowance on Friday, so maybe we could do it...Wednesday?" ~~SO throwing a random day into the wind.~~

"Wednesday sounds good. I don't have to be at Alfred's. Maybe we can plot something ~~to get us in trouble~~ fun with people who show up to mooch."

~~Trouble~~"Sounds good. Maybe bring in some Twinkies as appetizers. or better yet, bobbing for Twinkies!"

"What is it with you Americans and these twinkies?" Walter asked with distaste. "I think you should go to bed and think of something a bit less dreadful." He smiled to gentle the words, though and began gathering their things.

"Twinkies are the food that makes the world go 'round!" Victor proclaimes. "Since they were made, Twinkies have satisfied the sugar needs of people everywhere! Y'know, I bet even the Pope eats Twinkies."

"Do you have a head injury you didn't tell any of us about?" Walter asked, making a show of checking Victor's head.

He whistled for Pup and nodded toward the door. "Bed?" He stuck out his tongue. "For rest, tonight."

Victor raised an eyebrow and got up, grabbing his laptop as he rose. "Like, for rest rest, or for rest rest? Like the kind of rest you limp away from?"

"Rest. The kind where we lie down, close our eyes, and listen to some of your music until we fall asleep so that I can be there in the morning to see your new alarm clock in action."
