Gym, Early Sunday Morning

Pip had been forced to admit that he had been neglecting his exercise routine. In his defense, his arm had been in a sling for a week, but that was hardly an excuse any more.

Quick run, some push ups, some sit ups.

Now he was at the bag, smacking it around and mulling over what had happened last night.

[[OOC: Gym's openv for all who wish to use it.]]

Restless and stir-crazy, Anders headed down to the gym to at least get some kind of workout in. Maybe some low-level treadmill activity, at the very least.

"Hey," he said as he passed by Pip at the punching bag, trying to place this guy's name. "Pip, right?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's me," he answered. "How's it been going?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Anders laughed. "Yeah, that sounds about right. The weirdness with the singing, plus finding out my friends have been holding out on me, that all sort of cancels out all the good stuff." He paused. "Well. Most of the good stuff."

Anders's jaw went slack for a second. "Well, yeah. That'd be fair, I guess," he admitted, aware of the return of the goofy smile.

Anakin stalked into the gym after a restless night. He nodded at the student he didn't know, gave a small smile to Anders, and then walked over to the equipment locker and pulled out a broom handle.

It wasn't nearly the same as a lightsaber, but he had to get practice in somehow and the punching bag was being used.

He closed his eyes, centered himself, and began running through the Form I lightsaber warm-up regimen.

The handle was soon a blur of motion. If it weren't for a slight stiffness in the way he held his left shoulder, there'd be no indication he had been up to anything at all this weekend.

"Skywalker." Anders gave Anakin a vague wave and then fell silent, letting him go through his routine undisturbed.

Anakin finally slowed down. Switching to a routine that was more about control than blinding speed, he met Anders' eyes. "Hey," he said, wincing slightly as a movement pulled at his bruised shoulder muscles. "Haven't seen you since snowmonster weekend--heard you got beat up a bit. You healing up all right?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Anders shrugged. "Guess so, but not fast enough," he groused. Picking up on the wince, he asked, "You too, huh?"

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Snowball to the shoulder at close range," Anakin replied. He gave Anders a wry smile. "I knew I was right about not liking the cold."

He started moving the broom handle in a routine he had been designing himself. The broom handle moved faster and more aggressively than previously. "And Friday night aggravated it a bit," he said lightly. "So stretching it out feels good."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, cold's not my thing either. Least you got out in it, huh? I didn't make it that far, so no action for me." Anders shrugged and watched Anakin's moves, impressed. "Not that I would've handled myself as well as you could, anyway."

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"We had dancing snowmonsters," Anakin said, raising an eyebrow. "Strangest thing I'd seen in a while. Shep distracted them by wearing a wig. Which was also one of the strangest things I've seen in a while."

He kept the handle whirling. "But my bar for what is considered strange just keeps getting raised around here."

He finally stopped moving the fake lightsaber. "I've been training for this kind of stuff since I was nine years old," he said with a shrug. "I'd be in a lot of trouble in the future if I couldn't hold my own against snowmonsters." He tossed the broom handle to the other hand. "And it looks much cooler with the acual weapon. This has a different balance to it. Also, it's not glowy and blue."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I've sort of given up on setting a limit on strange around here. And I get the balance thing," agreed Anders. "I'm the same way with my Pyramid gear. The practice ball doesn't bounce quite the same as my really good one, and the skin's got a totally different feel."

He let out a brief, self-conscious chuckle. "'course, if snow monsters could play Pyramid, I coulda kicked their asses on the court."

Kara wanders into the gym and throws down her bag. She's surprised to see Anders. "Didn't expect to see you down here, Samuel," she calls out to him.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"What, just 'cause of these stupid ribs?" Anders asks, walking over. "Please. I gotta do something, Thrace. Didn't expect to see you down here either."

[identity profile] pyramid-is-life.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Kara laughs and says, "So much for taking it easy, huh?" She grins and starts some stretches.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am taking it easy. You see me on the weight bench or anything?" Anders glares playfully at her. "I was just thinking of hitting the treadmill for a little bit."

He sighs and starts in on a modified version of his leg stretches that doesn't involve any upper body strain. "Yay for tables turning," he says, a little bit dejected. "Now I'm the one who gets to take it easy and watch while you actually work out."

[identity profile] pyramid-is-life.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, cry me a river, Samuel," she says, rolling her eyes. "You'll be fine in a couple weeks."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know that," he retorts. "Just not so much with the patience. Plus I, uh, kinda might have strained 'em a little last night."

[identity profile] pyramid-is-life.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Found a way to burn off some of that energy?" she asks with a smirk.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-05 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"You could definitely say that," he smirks right back. "Who knew singing was such a turnon?"

Isabel came into the gym and nodded at everyone already there. Heading over to the mat she began to stretch out.
