Gym, Early Sunday Morning

Pip had been forced to admit that he had been neglecting his exercise routine. In his defense, his arm had been in a sling for a week, but that was hardly an excuse any more.

Quick run, some push ups, some sit ups.

Now he was at the bag, smacking it around and mulling over what had happened last night.

[[OOC: Gym's openv for all who wish to use it.]]

"Thanks! I appreciate it." She smiled and then pushed her hair back. "It just makes sense to put some time in beforehand. It's easy enough. Besides, it'll make things even more interesting."

"Yeah, that's no problem. I can definitely help with that. Be glad to, actually. Hell, it'd even force me to brush up on some of the history and stuff from back home, since we're not exactly learning that here."

"Huh, I never thought about that. Is that going to be a problem for you when you go home?" she asked. "Some colleges here require a certain number of core classes like history and literature before you can be admitted. Would earth history courses count?"

Anders scrunched his face up in thought. "Oh, Lords, I never thought about that either. Considering there's a good chance they won't even believe there's such a thing? I should really check up on that. If the CPL is gonna be paying my way through college, I better not frak myself over that way." He sighed. "Good thing I still have two years to go after this, huh? I seriously owe you for that reminder. Thanks."

"There's time. That's what I keep telling myself. I still don't know what I want to do or where I want to go," she said while trying not to think about the big unknown destiny hanging over her head. "But it sounds like you're doing better then I am if you already have a scholarship. What's the CPL?"

"Colonial Pyramid League," he explained. "Pro sports league from home. I signed with 'em back in December, but I can't actually play until I finish school. That was part of the deal."

"Wow, I'm impressed. They recruit students in high school? You must be good."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
He had the good grace to blush at that, ducking his head and scuffing the floor awkwardly with his toe. "Well, my girlfriend sure thinks so. Me, I think I've still got a lot of room for improvement. Some kids join up right after high school, but I wanted the extra college-level experience first."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Isabel smiled when he blushed, it was cute. "If they're offering you a scholarship, they have to think you're good. But that's great that you want the college experience, I've read about kids who go into basketball right out of high school or after only a year in college. It doesn't end well. Too much pressure, too soon."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh yeah, definitely," agreed Anders, nodding and suddenly looking much more serious. "That happens in the Colonies, too. Seen it happen to a couple of kids who used to go to Delphi Union with me, and the burnout was nasty. And this is something I want too much to let that happen."

"I guess ambition is universal. But if you're not ready for it." She shrugged, and started to slow down on the trainer. "Good for you for doing it the right way."

"But enough serious stuff. Tell me about your girlfriend. I don't think I've met her yet."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Anders shot her a grateful look. "Friends back home used to tell me I was thinking about it too much. Glad you don't agree."

He blushed even more at her request, this time accompanied by the biggest, goofiest grin possible. "Now there's another subject I might not stop talking about. Cally's something else. Funny thing is, she's from the same place I am. Well, sort of. Same planet, at least. But we never met before we both got here. She's about that tall --" He held a hand up at what would be approximately 5'6". "Brown hair with the cutest bangs, blue eyes, wears a lot of black? You might've seen her around, maybe. We sort of live together."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
"There's nothing wrong with knowing what you want and getting it the right way."

Anders was very cute when he grinned like that. "I think I've seen her around. You'll have to introduce us one of these days." She smiled, "That's too funny that you had to come all the way here to meet. That means it definitly meant to be."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
"That's what people usually say when we tell them that. I kinda like to hope so, myself," Anders said, his cheeks still flushed. "Yeah, I'll definitely introduce you next time we get a chance. I think you'll like her. She's really sweet."

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe she'll want to help with the questions. The more the merrier and all that." She smiled and then stopped the trainer and climbed off.

"I think that's it for today. I don't want to kill myself one of the first days back. Besides, we'll talk tonight."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Good call," agreed Anders. "You don't wanna overdo it. And yeah, I'm pretty sure she'll be happy to help. And yes. Yes we will."
