2nd floor common room, evening

It's probably an act of desperation that Cameron is sitting in the common watching the Super Bowl. It is kinda nice with the surround system, but it's still football which really doesn't compare to basketball. Still, he's got popcorn and chips and he's feeling kinda fuzzy.

"Right. Do the different colored uniforms mean they're on different teams?"

"Correct," Angel said. "White and yellow is the Steelers, who we like. The teal wimps are the Seahawks, who are lucky to even be in the stadium."

Alanna snickered. "And their goal is to hurt as many members of the opposite team as possible? What does the ball have to do with anything?"

"The object is to get the ball to the end of the field," Angel said. He pointed. "See those big areas on either side with the team logos? They're supposed to get around the team and get the ball into those zones. That is when they don't suck."

"Oh, I kinda get that. So what's with the padding and the hitting?"

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Hitting is because you're allowed to get in the guy's way to keep him from getting a touchdown," Angel said. "Padding is because sometimes the boys play rough."

[identity profile] threeweapons.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh huh. So only the boys get to play?"

"Girls didn't want to for a long while," Angel said. "But there's some who're trying to make inroads. Kinda like you, only without the cat."

Alanna giggled. "I don't think a talking cat would be helpful for a football player. Plus, girls used to be knights, a century ago." She was a bit defensive.

"We didn't really have football a century ago," Angel said. "It's still fairly new."

"Ah. All righty then."
