It's probably an act of desperation that Cameron is sitting in the common watching the Super Bowl. It is kinda nice with the surround system, but it's still football which really doesn't compare to basketball. Still, he's got popcorn and chips and he's feeling kinda fuzzy.

"No, I mean I've restructured the rules of the game and the field to actually make some sort of sense. I'm considering writing it up and submitting it for extra credit in Tactics of War."

"Hey, we had to come up with something to do once jousting fell out of fashion," Angel said. "So what are your ideas so far?"

"First, no stopping play when someone gets tackled. Someone grabs the ball and goes with it. Keep the momentum going so at least one team can gain some ground rather than stopping and starting every five hundred microts. And there won't be any time outs. It halts the procedure," she tells him. "The... end zone, I think it's called? will be smaller, because that is ridiculous considering it takes everyone forever to get there."

"Wouldn't you want to make the field itself smaller then?" Angel asked. "You know, if you're serious about this you should look at basketball before you submit the report. They started out with football rules and made some changes."

Aeryn considers this. "Usually in battle you're covering larger areas, and with the momentum of play I would think something larger would actually make it more challenging. I will definitely look into the baseketball thing, though. If only for comparison."

"What happened is that they wanted a way to play football when the weather wouldn't allow it," Angel said. "So they adjusted the rules for a smaller, faster, indoor version."

"Except it sounds like a smaller, faster, indoor version would be pyramid. Which you don't have here," she says, because she listens to Anders. "I haven't seen dribbling in this game."

"Yeah here you want the ball off the ground," Angel said. "Touches the ground you're done. Which is good if you're where you want to be. Bad if you're not."

"Except if it touches the ground, someone should be able to get it, just to keep things going. I've seen more commercials than I have actual game. There's something inherently wrong with that."

"There were a couple of times today when I would've said that was a live ball," Angel said. "Not sure I totally agree with the refs. Especially on that one Seattle touchdown which, excuse me, never happened."

"Which is another thing. Why is there someone saying what's good and what's not. I understand the coaches because they lead both sides, but interference is just unnecessary."

"Keeps it fair, in theory," Angel said. "It's an outside party that everybody has to agree to listen to. Otherwise nobody could break the tie of opinions."

"Except no one seems to like their rulings, and it's almost impossible to be nonpartisan."
