4th Floor Common Room, Monopoly Game Night

Late Saturday afternoon, Isabel started preparing the fourth floor common room for Game Night. By the time the evening rolled around, the room was ready for fun. A table against the wall was loaded with an assortment of baked goods from Jeff, God of Biscuits and an assortment of chips and various dips. There was a cooler next to the table filled with bottles of water, fruit juice and cans of soda.

Four tables were arranged with Monopoly game boards and space for eight players at a table.

With everything ready she sat down to wait.

[OOC: Obviously we're not going to be rolling the dice for every turn. The game does need to end at some point tonight (preferebly before 5:30 in the morning). Hopefully there's enough links that you'll be able to fake it well enough to have fun. Game piece icons are available for the truly obsessed here at each of the tables. Please note that [livejournal.com profile] peter__parker has a special doggie icon he can use at whatever table he wants. Have fun!]

[ooc2: Please wait for the OCD threads are up.]

"Yep. GO sounds good," Peter said.

John moves 9 spaces to Connecticut Ave. "Nice. Um. Owned?"

"Nope. It's yours if you want it." Peter picked up the dice and waited for John to decide on his potential business transaction

"Bingo. Lay me down some real estate."

John lays down the bones for his first pimp pad.

Peter rolled the dice. The little doggie landed on the same Chance that sent him to jail last time. He picked up the card warily. "TAKE A RIDE ON THE READING IF YOU PASS GO COLLECT $200. Pick up $200, lose $50 to Mac, end up in the incorporated area on the board. That's not fair."

Peter Parker pouted petulantly at his lack of precision playing prowess.

Mac quietly took her turn (and picked up another RR!).

Molly followed that by rolling a seven. "That puts me... in jail! Awww, that bites." She moved her shoe to the jail with a pout.

Barbossa snatched the dice before Sam could forget about him again.

And rolled a -7.

Yeah, didn't know how, either, but he shrugged and forked over his $75 for the Luxery Tax.

Sam examined the dice closely again. Obviously there was something about them that she was missing. "How..."

She rolled and ended up on Community Chest. "Take a ride on the Reading..." Sam sighed and forked over the money to Mac.

John takes the dice and rolls.

It's not a normal number. (http://www-groups.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/~history/HistTopics/e_10000.html) "The hell?"

He's mostly on St. Charles place.

"Nobody owns that yet," Molly told John. "You want to buy it?"

"Sure do." John lays down the cash.

Peter takes his turn and lands on Jail. Just visiting this time, though. "The view is much nicer from the outside."

Molly rolls, but doesn't get doubles. "Shoot. I'll try again next turn." She picks up her shoe and pretends to kick the bars. "Thanks for visiting me puppy. Company is nice."

Peter held Ace the Spider-Mutt (which was a name he was never saying out loud) up to the imaginary jail walls. He even made a little barking noise for the doggie to greet the shoe. Peter's a dork like that sometimes.

Molly just giggled.

Barbossa, a little afraid of picking up the dice now, rolled.

And got the square root of 2.

"Double money!" he crowed, taking it from his banker's pile. Which had been depleted, slightly, when others weren't watching.

"I'm definitely taking those dice and experimenting on them," Sam said, under her breath, "because that's not normal."

She rolled a three, landed on Vermont, and considered. She owned Oriental, but John owned Connecticut. "I'll take it," she said, handing Barbossa $100 and watching him to make sure he actually put it in the bank.

Peter rolled a six and landed on Pennsylvania Railroad. "And another $100 to Mac."

Molly waited patiently for Mac to take her turn. Last turn, Mac landed on, and purchased, Pacific Ave. This turn, she passed GO, collected her $200, landed on Community Chest and got a bank error in her favor. Another $200. That girl had all the luck.

Molly took the dice and rolled again. "Come on, doubles!" A three and a five turned up. "Darn. Stuck here for another turn." She picked up the unused thimble and, putting it in the shoe, pretended to run it across the bars of the cell while making a cl-l-l-lang noise.

If anyone was watching their piles of money--especially, say, Sam's or Peter's, they might have noticed that some of it has been "liberated." And was now in front of Barbossa, who was doing very well for himself despite having only moved a couple of times.

Sneaky pirate.

He picked up the dice.

And rolled a zero.

"Double money again! This be the best game ever!"

Re: Table 1: The Game

[identity profile] peter--parker.livejournal.com 2006-02-12 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Peter wasn't even questioning the pirate's rolls anymore.

But he could have sworn he had more twenties in front of him before...

"I give up," Sam said, taking the dice and rolling. "Seven." She counted out spaces and handed $100 to Mac. Hadn't she had more money there? "Y'know...I must have bad train karma."

JOhn rolls the dice again. 18? The hell? He pulls a Community Chest card, but he can't quite make it out. His hold on his money pile tightens.
