4th Floor Common Room, Monopoly Game Night

Late Saturday afternoon, Isabel started preparing the fourth floor common room for Game Night. By the time the evening rolled around, the room was ready for fun. A table against the wall was loaded with an assortment of baked goods from Jeff, God of Biscuits and an assortment of chips and various dips. There was a cooler next to the table filled with bottles of water, fruit juice and cans of soda.

Four tables were arranged with Monopoly game boards and space for eight players at a table.

With everything ready she sat down to wait.

[OOC: Obviously we're not going to be rolling the dice for every turn. The game does need to end at some point tonight (preferebly before 5:30 in the morning). Hopefully there's enough links that you'll be able to fake it well enough to have fun. Game piece icons are available for the truly obsessed here at each of the tables. Please note that [livejournal.com profile] peter__parker has a special doggie icon he can use at whatever table he wants. Have fun!]

Nadia sighed and handed over the money. But, since they were business partners, that meant it was basically still hers, right? She rolls again.

One and One. She wasn't even going to try and talk Parker out of collecting rent. She handed over the ten dollars and rolled again.

Three and three. "Oh. That means I'm in jail, doesn't it." She moves her piece over and immediately starts plotting a daring jail break.

Blair frowned and looked down at the board. Tossing the dice and then shoving them to the side a bit he moves his dog over to a chance square on the board. "Oh, what rotten luck."

He picked up the card that read Advance to Go(Collect $200) and read aloud. "Go directly to jail. That stinks. Guess I'm stuck there."

"Either one of you willing to pay me for a Get Out of Jail Free card?" Parker said, waving it enticingly.

Blair rolls his eyes at Parker. "No, we're victimized by The Man and we're not going to pay his blood money. Or yours. We're staying." Blair looked over at Nadia. "Or at least I am."

Nadia, still looking in slight awe at Blair, shakes her head absently. "It's more fun to bust out, anyway."

Blair nods as he watches Pippi play her turn. "Fight the power, man."

Nadia borrows a page out of Lucas' book "Damn the Man"

Nadia holds up a fist and nods.

Pippi lands on Illanois and pays Pip.

"I shouldn't have to pay this Pip, your Illinois property has a leaky roof!"

Jack rolled double threes and chortled as he passed GO and picked up $200 on his way to Reading Railroad. Jack sighed as he paid Pip-- "We're running out of available property, and people willing to make interesting deals"-- and then rolled again to land on St. James' Place. "Home, sweet home." He grinned and flicked the dice over to Janet.

Janet caught the dice with barely any fumbling, and winked at Harkness. "Now's when the game gets interesting," she said. She rolled double fours and went to visit Blair and Nadia in jail.

"I've also got a Get Out of Jail Free card. Sale, trade, or promise of future favors?"

Nadia looked at the board. She looked at the money. She looked at the board. "Actually, I think if we say here, we can just collect rent without paying anything."

"Welcome to false imprisonment, Janet! We're going to sing songs of protest later." Blair waved his hand dismissively at the card. "No way, this is a protest. There are no 'get out of jail free' cards on sticking it to The Man!"

"I don't think you can collect rent while you're in jail," said Janet. She frowned. "Where's the rules pamphlet again?" Then she gave Blair an amused look. "Are you going to stage a sit-in at a fake jail?"

Nadia looked at Blair and smiled. "Right. Time to initiate plan B." She reached out, possibly as though about to accept the card from Janet . . . and flipped the whole board over, spilling all the game pieces, cards, and dice onto the floor.

"Jail break!"

Pip stared at the flipped board. "Well if we were going to do that we should have just taken it out back and blown it up," Pip said jokingly. "Still, it was fun while it lasted."

Nadia shook her head. "I don't understand the attraction of this game. Now, if we were playing for real money . . . I still wouldn't understand the attraction of this game."

"Ahh! No fair!" Parker protested, grabbing for her pieces, then pouting. "I was *winning*."

She hadn't been, and she was relieved to have it over with. When she was fairly sure no one was looking, she winked at Nadia, then went on to protest, "Do over, do over!"

Jack just started laughing, and kept it up through the ensuing wrangling. "Viva la resistance! Power to the prisoners! Oh, lighten up, Parker." He snorted and pulled her back down when she got to her feet. "Run, Nadia! Run! Escaaaaape!"

Nadia had started laughing, and was unfortunately too busy doing so to take Jack's advice.

Parker started throwing the fake money and the bank cards at her, then reached for the little pieces. Luckily Jack pulled her back down at that point. "Santos!!"

She could've gotten away if she'd really tried.
