Room 231, Sunday Morning

Sam was doing homework. A great deal of homework. And drinking coffee.

Since it was Sunday and she was seventeen, though, she'd also indulged in a chocolate croissant. She sat on the bed reading her book for Quantum Physics, but kept glancing over at the walls, wanting to see where the theorems Marty had pointed her towards could lead. Still, obligations first. She also had an essay due for ACJ that had to be handed in to Rory.

And if she was maybe a little concerned about the therapy session with Janet and the school counselor the next day, well, it happened.

Having finally finished her homework, and scored internet access, Elizabeth headed out into the big, wide world.

Or, y'know, down the corridor at least.

"Knock, knock," she grinned.

"Tired," Elizabeth grinned, moving in and dropping down on the bed. "Jetlag has been kicking my ass. I've been having odd dreams recently, so I've not been sleeping so great," she shrugged. "Other than that, working, studying... the usual. How about you?"

Janet knocked on the door and then just opened it. "Hey, guys," she said. "I'm bored. Tell me you're doing something interesting."

"Hey, Janet," Elizabeth waved at her. "I only just got here myself, so doing things hasn't actually happened yet."

"As fascinating as watching paint dry," said Janet.

"That's certainly good," she nodded. "And I'm always happy for a peaceful weekend too. Although it's not over yet, so there's still time." Elizabeth laughed, before accepting the bottle.

She shrugged. "Memories of Atlantis mostly," she said. "I mean, it's not unusual for me to dream of it; but it just seems like every night I'm dreaming of it."

"Every night?" asked Janet. "That's awfully frequently. How come?"

Elizabeth twisted the cap off her bottle and took a mouthful. "I actually have no idea," she said. "I feel like I'm missing something though. That there's someting important that I've forgotten, and I need to know, but I can't remember it."

[identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com 2006-02-13 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, there different each time," Elizabeth began. "Sometimes it's when we're arriving in Atlantis. I'm dreaming about the Wraith attacks, and sometimes we don't win. And," she rubbed at her eyes. "A couple of nights, there's been a Goa'uld there. In Atlantis."

[identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com 2006-02-13 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, tell me about it," Elizabeth managed to grin.

"I don't think I'm remembering it. But I don't get why I would be worried about it, y'know? I mean, I could just be blending the two of the things I fear. I have pretty much constant exposure to the Goa'uld here; and not just any Goa'uld. "

She sighed. "It's pretty frustrating."

"Orlin..." Elizabeth leant back for a moment, working her way through her seemingly encylopedic knowledge of the SGC. "Banished Ancient, who descended himself?"

She frowned and looked at Sam. "Um. I had a lot of mission files in not many days. But wasn't he banished for sharing knowledge on how to defeat the Goa'uld?"

"Precisely! I mean, I'm used to impending doom. Far more than I ever thought I would be. But this," she sighed. "It starts to reiterate the feelings of uselessness, y'know?"

Janet shook her head. "But thankfully, Daniel didn't descend and develop and sudden, inexplicable desire to date one of the Goa'uld."

Janet frowned. "Didn't you have a period of missing time?" she asked. "You were gone for a few days and came back without knowing where you'd been."

[identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com 2006-02-13 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Elizabeth nodded. "Yeah. Still not got any memory of it back."

"It seems to me that there might be a correlation," said Janet.

"Partial memory loss perhaps?" Elizabeth suggested, frowning slightly. "Other than that, I'm not sure. It's a bit odd."

"That's good," she nodded. "I honestly feel like I don't know what I want. When we get things like Snow monsters attacking, I wish things were normal. But then we get normality, and I get bored so quickly of it!"

"We really don't know what mechanism causes the memory loss when someone descends," said Janet. "Partly due to the fact that we've only seen it happen with Orlin and Daniel--and we've really only had a chance to study the results in Daniel."

"I don't want normal," said Janet. "Not all the time. I'm not used to it. But what I want is to have my life back, and that's not possible."
