Bridge blinks. "...kill someone? Or, okay, do anything really mean. And I don't mean like, harmless practical-joke-stuff, I'm talking really mean hurtful things. 'Cause that's not cool."
Anders blinks too. "Okay, I didn't mean like that kind of anything. Except that 'anything' sort of means, well, anything, and, um. Okay. Bad choice of words." He waves his hands around in the air, a vague sort of erasing gesture.
"Starting over. Like, would you accept rent in the form of cupcakes?"
Anders starts playing with a little coily bit of wire that got tangled up in his hair somehow. "Like, how many cupcakes? And would this be, like, a flat rate or would it have something to do with the amount of space?"
"I think the number of cupcakes depends on the flavour. Like, chocolate cupcakes are inherently worth more than, like, strawberry. In my opinion, anyway. And probably space would factor into things." Bridge raises an eyebrow at Anders.
"So, uh." Anders starts lining up bits of wire and screws in an attempt to help him count. "If I stored a broken motor scooter up here for a few weeks, how much would that be? Say like, two dozen chocolate cupcakes a week?"
"Half-dozen chocolate? With sprinkles?" Anders has his notepad in hand, because he's seriously ready to write this down. "There's just the slight problem of getting the thing up here."
Anders rolls his eyes and tosses the little wire coil halfheartedly at Bridge. "Yeah, that'll look great on the next poster, huh? Bridge and Cally, the mechanics! Anders. He brings cupcakes! We promise they won't end up in your fixed stuff, but your fixed stuff might make 'em."
"What if I got in an accident and lost my legs?" asks Anders, who can't quite snap himself out of this depressing train of thought just yet. "Still be your champ then?"
