Fourth Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Bored, Bel wandered down to the common room of his former residence, the fourth floor. He ordered a pizza, and after it arrived, sprawled on the couch and started flipping through the channels. There had to be something worth watching on. Dammit, Vanessa Saturn was a repeat due to the Olympics. Maybe CFD: Detroit would have some sort of cool gruesome murder.

"Thought I saw a flash of light and heard something." He shrugged. "Guess it was my imagination."

Nadia let out a soft breath and booked it the rest of the way up the stairs.

Oo, that made a lot of noise.

She was going to have to work on the sneaky surveilance.

"Huh, well, around here, you're probably lucky you didn't get turned into an animal or something," she said with a shrug.

"True enough," Bel said, grinning. "So how are you doing?"

"Not too bad," she replied. "One of my friends is leaving though."

"Oh, who's that?" he asked.

"Lisa Cuddy, we worked in the clinic together."

"Don't know her," Bel said. "Why's she leaving?"

"Family stuff," she said with a little frown. "I can understand that though."

"You having some issues, too?" Bel asked. He could feel definitely sympathy for family drama.

"Not at the moment," she said with a smile. "But my dad wasn't thrilled about some of the stuff he heard about this place when I was home over break."

"I can imagine," Bel said. "You're from one of the more normal worlds, right?"

"I'm from New Jersey," she said. "It doesn't get much more normal than that."

"I don't know," Bel joked. "In my world, a lot of demons live in New Jersey."

Allie giggled. "I don't find that hard to believe for some reason."

"There could be demons and magic in your world, you just don't know it," Bel said. "Most magical types where I'm from keep themselves hidden."

Allie cocked her head thoughtfully. "I'm not sure I like that idea," she said honestly.

"Don't worry," Bel said. "Chances are you're from a perfectly normal world."

"I hope so," she said. Then she kind of blushed. "Um, I don't mean that in a bad way," she stammered. "It's just... I somehow get the feeling that not all demons are as nice as you."

Bel blinked. Nice? "Um, thanks," he said. "And, yeah, most of them aren't like me. I'm, um, part human, too."

"Oh that's... interesting," Allie said lamely. A million questions popped in her mind, but she decided it might be rude to ask them.

Bel could see the questions in her eyes. "Go ahead, it's okay," he said. "What do you want to know?"

Allie blushed. "Is it common where you're from? How did it happen?"

"I'm one of a kind as far as I know," Bel said with a slight shrug. "Technically, I shouldn't exist."

"That must suck at family reunions."
