Fourth Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Bored, Bel wandered down to the common room of his former residence, the fourth floor. He ordered a pizza, and after it arrived, sprawled on the couch and started flipping through the channels. There had to be something worth watching on. Dammit, Vanessa Saturn was a repeat due to the Olympics. Maybe CFD: Detroit would have some sort of cool gruesome murder.

Blair started scribbling notes as Bel talked. Then his mouth dropped open and his pen slipped off the paper onto his jeans. He jerked and started rubbing at the ink stain. "Yeah, uh, you're right. Doesn't work that way at all."

He blushed. "Besides, all the girls I was dating could probably kick my ass. Well, I don't know about Jaye...but she's mean enough to try."

Blair shrunk down in his chair and looked around nervously. "Do you really think they'd try? Because...whoa..."

"Did your girlfriend claim you?"

"Sorta," Bel said. "I mean, just doing that would get me in trouble. Besides, it was my human side that wanted her."

"So your human side is the side that wanted her, but your demon side claimed her? How does that work exactly?" Blair scribbled furiously in his notebook. "Does your demon side ever fight to have more of a underworld-caveman-primitive claiming type of relationship with her?"

"Yes -- I mean no -- I mean...." For some reason, Bel felt like flailing. "Phoebe and my demon side don't talk. It's just not a good idea."

"Really?" Blair bit the end of his pencil thoughtfully. "Does that mean she doesn't accept that side of you? Isn't that half of who you are? How do you supress your demon side in the relationship? Does it cause an idenity crisis or multiple personality disorder? Do you have to compensate in other ways?"

Blair shrugged, his pencil poised over his notebook. "I just want to understand things. Figure out the 'why' behind people and what they do. I'm just interested."

"Well, you'd have to ask her what she thinks of my demon side," Bel said. "But she, uh, she brings out the human in me, so she doesn't see it much."

"Do you like that about her? That she makes you act human?" Blair leaned forward on the chair. "Would you supress the demon side all the time if you spent all your time with her?"

"But you can change what you do. Loving her is a choice that you're making that's good. You can make other ones too." Blair tapped his pencil nervously, not sure if this was going too far.

"Nope. But you can ask me to stop being Jewish and while it will still be part of my background, I can choose to not observe the lifestyle." Blair put his feet on the floor, totally not preparing to make a break for it or anything.

Blair sighed and stood, gathering his backpack. "I'm trying to. I'm not yelling at you. I'm not angry at you. I'm not even judging you. I'm just trying to understand."
