The Dorm Roof, Tuesday Afternoon

Cally has suited up in her Dad's old jumpsuit, grabbed a toolbelt, and headed up to the roof in order to do some routine maintenance on the Viper. She'd hoped to have moved it, as per the school's request, but she couldn't ever seem to get a hold of anyone willing to fly the frakking thing. She'd made arrangements for it to be stored over at Quark's Garage, but the ship had to get there first.

So, until then, she just double checks the fuel lines for leaks, the hull for cracks, and so on and so forth. It's tedious, but it's a fun kind of tedious for her.

"Blame you?" exclaims Archie. "Do I look suicidal? I'd be lynched for that! And believe me, if I could choose the way I die the second time, being killed by your boyfriend would not be my first option."

"Well... erm... okay?" Cally is totally confused now.

"I'm not blaming you for anything," says Archie. "And I ought to go now. I shouldn't keep you from your work."

"Okay, I guess." Cally says, scratching the back of her neck. "You wanna, like, hang out tommorow?"

"I suppose," Archie says. "Won't Samuel get suspicious? Or upset?"

"S'not like I was planning on sticking my hand down your pants," Cally says, laughing. "Just hang out. Maybe watch a movie or something."

"I don't know," Archie says. "If he's going to be there, it would make things awfully uncomfortable, wouldn't it? If not, well . . . perhaps."

"Well, we won't invite him," Cally says. "As demonstrated by the fact he's not here right now, we totally aren't attached at the hip."

"Thank God," Archie says. "That would be uncomfortable."

He hesitates again. "I don't know, honestly. I don't want him coming after me later for some perceived wrongdoing."

"If he does? You totally have the right to give him a black eye," Cally says. "Stupid jealousy isn't a good thing for my champ."

Archie raises an eyebrow. "I don't know if I can reach that high," he says dryly. "And I'm surprised you would actually give me permission to physically harm him."

"I'd give you permission to kiss 'im if I didn't think the black eye was a more likely thing," Cally says with a wink.

"Oh dear God, not you too," Archie groans. "I'll have you know my kissing Bridge was entirely to get back at Jaye, and it backfired on me spectacularly."

Cally laughs. "That's all, huh? Suuuuure."

"Yes," Archie says sternly. "That's all. And I'm not sure watching that movie tomorrow will be a good idea after all."

Cally sighs. "Okay, okay, okay, I totally don't believe you like kissing boys."

"Actually," replies Archie, "I do. But in that particular instance it wasn't very fair to Bridge."

"Okay, now I'm confused again," Cally says, scratching the back of her neck.

"Cally." Archie sticks his hands in his pockets and leans in close, smirking. "Yes. I enjoy kissing boys. And girls. But I don't like doing it merely for revenge. That's all."

He straightens up and crosses his arms over his chest. "Otherwise I might have, just now."

Cally smirks, "What, kissed me?"

Archie stands up a little straighter. "Yes. But then I decided I didn't feel like being quite that petty."

"Besides, I'd have fallen asleep, and toppled over, and, like, hit my head. And the whole school would blame my coma on you, and you'd be lynched." Cally laughs. "So it's extra good you didn't."

Archie's mouth drops open. "Oh, you can't still be going on about my kisses putting people to sleep, can you?" he laughs. "I don't kiss that badly, you know."

"Only to you," Cally says, grinning. "Just cause I like the look on your face whenever I say it."

Archie sighs. "That does it. Just for that I'm going to kiss Samuel the next time I see him, and disprove your little theory," he teases.
