4th Floor Common Room: 3/11 - Evening - Nadia's Birthday Party

Somebody has decorated the common room to the hilt for Nadia's birthday.

Angela gawped at the phone for a minute. "Okay, her day is officially weirder than mine," she decided. "And what's up with her and Peter?"

"Oh, you weren't in the room in England, right. Heh." Parker grinned. "They have a mutual crush going on. It's cute. And I don't usually comment on cute."

"Awwwww," Angela said. "She deserves a boy, since it seems like whassisname at MIT is ignoring her. And Peter's great. Yay for crushage."

"Rory is already making glitter flags. It's hysterical." She grinned. "He's in New York right now, so it's not like I can tell him until he gets back. What I find more amusing is that her entire family evidently got arrested."

Angela chuckled. "That's sort of awful, but ... I guess it's nice they all have common interests?"

She rubbed her forehead. "Oh, hey, that reminds me -- want to hear something about my own freaky family?"

"Sure. Oh, right, you just got back from visiting them. How was it?" She grinned. "It can't be worse than Zero's thing."

"The trip itself was fine," Angela said with a shrug. "I was kind of preoccupied by the Angel thing. But on the trip home..." Angela rolled her eyes at herself, then forced herself to continue. "So, to back up? You remember that girl at the Watchers' place? I asked Mr. Giles about her and he said she was dead. Which ... I talked to her, Parker."

Parker's eyes widened. "And you couldn't tell? I mean, are you sure he's not making a mistake? I'd think it would be obvious...."

"Not exactly," Angela said hesitantly. "I mean ... I've talked to people like that before, Parker. Ghosts, or angels, or whatever."

She rubbed her forehead. "My mom has, too. And she's really not the type to believe in something like this without a really good reason."

Parker looked thoughtful, then uneasy. "That's... unsettling. I mean, it should be normal, after everything else we've seen, but somehow--" She cut herself off with a sharp gesture. "So, a ghost helped us find the information for Angel?"

Angela nodded. "Yeah. That's what it sounds like, anyhow."

She shrugged. "I'm going to get Bridge to scan me, later. See if he can tell what's going on."

"That's probably a good idea. You'll get a definite answer that way, at least."

Angela wandered off to talk to Bridge, then to Marty. Eventually, she made it back to Parker, looking a little shellshocked but happy. "I seem to be kind of psychic," she said. "Weird."

"Seriously?" Parker stared at her, then smiled. "Cool. Weird, but, cool. So that really was a ghost? That's wild."

"I guess," Angela said. "I mean, it's possible it wasn't, but ... yeah. I think she was." She laughed a little, nervously. "I almost feel like I should find out where her grave is and send flowers."

"I was going to send her chocolate when I thought she was alive." Parker looked thoughtful. "It might be-- nice, to do that for her."

"It would be," Angela agreed. "Wherever she is, I hope she would know."

She thought about it. "I wonder if Xander would know who she was?"

"It can't hurt to ask?" Parker shrugged, then frowned. "Although, if she's dead and he knows her, that might be awkward. Unless she's not dead *yet.*" She rubbed her temples. "The time thing for you guys who are just a couple years off is the hardest thing to keep straight around here."

"Tell me about it," Angela said. "It's going to be so, so hard to go home after graduation knowing what's going to happen in the world, and not being able to do anything about it. Though that's probably kind of a different thing."

She sighed. "I'll ask him. Or I could ask Mr. Giles for more information. I kind of freaked out when he told me."

Parker bit her lip. "You can't? Are you sure? It would seem as if... I don't know. That you'd have to try, about some things. The events you know about for sure."

She shrugged sympathetically. "And yes, I'd suppose it's not every day someone tells you that you have special powers you never suspected, or that you're talking to dead people." She was quiet. "I don't that I'd want that gift, to be honest."

"But some of the things I know about for sure, are too big for me to change, for sure," Angela said quietly. "I mean, how do you think the CIA would react to some 20-year-old girl telling them about Al Qaeda?" She shook her head, pushing the thought away.

"I think whatever I have is an okay gift, as long as it doesn't happen too often. None of the ghosts I've talked to have been frightening," she shrugs.

"That's good, I suppose. As long as you can handle it, and God knows it was useful in England." Parker shook her head. "You're not wrong about the CIA, I suppose. You'd be much more likely to be arrested as an accomplice, just because you knew too much." She sighed. "And somethings, even knowing and being able to do something can't change, I suspect.'

"Some things might just end up happening in a different way. Or maybe even worse." Angela frowned. "Maybe time travelers have already come, and fixed everything they could, and the world is still ... what it is, because it has to be."

"God, what a depressing thought." Parker cocked her head. "Or a relief. I mean, the world is still here. No nuclear wars. No mass extinctions. No world plagues. Yet."

"Yet," Angela agreed.

Sh ran a hand through her hair. "Okay, I'm going to go get a drink before we infect the entire party with emo. See you tomorrow, Parker."
