Gym: Early Evening...

Marty's bored.

So after finishing his class for the day, he grabs a gatorade and heads to the gym to start his workout.

No he's not humming "Eye of the Tiger" as he starts punching the body bag.

Really.

Marty looked at Nadia as she ran of the room.

Then he looked at the Gatorade bottle and shrugged.

"Weird kid."

He then opened the bottle and took a long drink of it before going back to the weight machines.

Nadia made it just out of ear shot before she collapsed against the wall in a fit of giggles.

"Majesty to base," she said to no one in particular. "Mission accomplished."

After Nadia leaves

Angela is in a hurry for reasons of her own, but in the space of about 30 seconds she manages to:

a) Dash into the gym;
b) Tell her boyfriend hi and that she loved him, and that she was thirsty;
c) Steal a swig of his Gatorade; and
d) Make a face because, ew, Gatorade tastes gross.

"You like this stuff," she asked, incredulous.

Marty shrugged. "It has electrolytes. I think Nadia likes it more. She was dancing with it. What's the rush?"

That news made Angela wonder exactly how much Nadia had been partaking of the wares sold outside the convenience store.

"My hair. My roots, are, like, a foot long and the bottom is entirely split ends and and Theodoric's only appointment is -" Angela checked her watch and made a subtly different face. "Five minutes ago. And I didn't get lunch, hence stealing your Gatorade, which I now kind of regret."

She rolled her eyes. "This stuff is such fun."

Marty wasn't sure if that was worth the manic phase Angela seemed to be in, but he was a wise enough boyfriend not to question it. "Go to your appointment. When I'm done here I'll grab dinner for us? Maybe meet back at your place?"

Marty was indeed a wise boyfriend, because if he had questioned it, he would have gotten a dissertation about how her identity was wrapped up in her hair and she couldn't just ignore her hair any longer and did he know how hard it was to get in to see Theodoric after school? And, really, nobody needs that.

"Sounds good," she agreed. "Ching Tai? Get extra egg rolls?"

"And now I'm going to be really late. Bye for now."

"See you later."

Marty waved goodbye to his hair-obsessed girlfriend, finished off his bottle of gatorade and went back to his workout.
