2nd Floor Common Room [Wednesday Evening]

Bridge is in the Common Room, notebook on his lap as he studies for finals.

Of course, he'd probably be better able to focus on studying if the TV wasn't on. But there it was.

"What is it with this planet's obsession with space?" D'anna wrinkled her nose. "It's just black sky with random balls of superheated, explosive gas thrown in here and there."

"You and me both!" D took a bite of cupcake. "So whacha studying there?"

D'anna nodded. "I tried to revise but my notes mostly consist of 'watched a video. The professor is... strange. Watched another video.'"

"But...but it's...space!" Oh, good, Carter. Very eloquent.

"Yes... and we're breathing air." D'anna paused, "at least, as far as I know that's what we're breathing."

"We've been completely planet-bound until very recently, in terms of cosmic time," Sam explained, once she got over her shock, "to us, it's unexplored, unexplained territory. Hopefully, by learning about space, we can learn more about ourselves."

"We've been in the black for thousands of years. No one really remembers how long." D gave her a long look. "This is big deal for you, isn't it?"

Sam lit up. "Yes. It's...there's no way to explain what it means to our planet, to the people living on it, or to me. The study of space has changed will change my life the way we live and think about everything."

D nodded. "I can see where it would be exciting. I mean, I never thought being here would prove so interesting but I can't imagine the last year of my life being any other way, you know?" The she grinned, "if you bring up any books entitled Our Solar System, Ourselves, I'm outta here."

Sam laughed. "No, they've usually got pretty boring titles. And no, I can't imagine anything different than this year has been."
