Logan was in the kitchen. Cooking. Because when you were in a kitchen, working with a blender, you could call it cooking. Even if the result was more beverage-y than food-y. It was practically summer, anyway. Perfect time for a cold iced drink. With tequila.

The television was playing "Annie".

"True," Cameron considered it. "It says that you don't trust him so that might be a bad idea. Then again, if he's been able to hide his Smurfs addiction this might actually be serious enough to break that rule. It'd be for his safety, no?"

"Ah, but see, he hasn't been hiding it. Do you know how many times he's used the word 'smurfy' on the air during his radio broadcasts?" Veronica pointed out. "Seems to me that you're the one that's defensive about it."

Cameron pulled back and tilted his head. "Sounds to me like you need to dig deeper and find out why I'm trying to hide this. Maybe there's some big childhood drama behind it. You never know."

"This is very true," Veronica agreed, tilting her head back at him. "So, tell me, did you have a traumatic Smurfs-related experience in your child hood?"

Cameron frowned and tilted his head the other way. "You're not being very sneaky with your investigation," he decided.

"Sometimes being direct is easier than being sneaky," Veronica said simply.

"But what if I can't tell you? My life might be in danger if I ever tell anyone else. Have you considered that? This might go beyond the Secret Banana Society." He really needed to start making sense one of these days.

Veronica's eyes grew wide. "The Secret Banana Society?" she repeated. "If you're involved with them, you're in danger anyway."

"Depends on how deep in I am," Cameron tried to sound very mysterious.

"I can get the number of a cult de-programmer if you need help," Veronica offered.

She was enjoying having a silly conversation with Cam. It was taking her mind off of other things.

"I don't know. What if I'm happy being brainwashed and free of having to think for myself?" He asked, considering it carefully.

"Well, if you're happy, then who am I to object?"

"You want in?" Cameron asked. "The banana cake is to die for."

"You're high enough up to get me in?" Veronica asked. "Wow, I'm impressed, Mitchell, never thought you had the covert stuff in you."

"Mars," Cameron sighed dramatically and shook his head. "You really shouldn't underestimate me. The Smurfs thing? It's all a big hoax to cover up an even darker secret."

"There's a darker secret than your Smurfs addiction?" Veronica asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, but you've got to understand that I really can't tell you. It's just way too dangerous," he somehow managed to keep from smiling.

"Are you sure?" Veronica tilted her head and pouted a little.

That was just evil, but apparently a head tilt deserved a head tilt back. "Pretty much. If I tell you about the Muffin Man Conspiracy, things will get really ugly."

No one can out head tilt Veronica Mars.

"I've seen ugly," Veronica said. "I can handle it."

Cameron shook his head and gave up on the head tilting because he was clearly overpowered here. "Not to this extend. It's just too much. It involves dough and chocolate chip and banana peels. Trust me, you don't want to know."

"Beyond words," he said, deadpan. "It took the word dirty to a whole new level."

"Shocking," Veronica said.

Then she laughed. "Thank you, Cameron. I needed that. I totally owe you a beer next time you come to Caritas."

Cameron chuckled and nodded. "Sure. Any time you need someone to talk nonsense to you, feel free to come poke me."
