Logan was in the kitchen. Cooking. Because when you were in a kitchen, working with a blender, you could call it cooking. Even if the result was more beverage-y than food-y. It was practically summer, anyway. Perfect time for a cold iced drink. With tequila.

The television was playing "Annie".

Molly was quiet for a moment and she continued to pick at the seam. "Did you see Cam after he broke up with Vala or Jaye?" she finally asked quietly.

"Yes. But you don't know that you guys will break up, do you?" Rory answered just as quietly.

"No, I don't," Molly said and then looked up at Rory. "But as long as Cam is worried about it, I'm not going to do anything else but be his friend." She looked down again. "I just seem to have a problem with the whole not kissing him thing," she said even more quietly than before.

Rory frowned. "Okay, here's where I'm coming from on this issue," she said, leaning her elbows on her knees. "So, I had this friend. Male friend," she clarified. "And we were really close friends. And, okay, for awhile, I had had kind of a, um, crush on him. So one night, out of nowhere, really, he kissed me. And neither one of us wanted to screw up the friendship, but you know what? We ended up being even closer and better friends. I can't explain it. It's a different level of closeness when you go from best friends to...whatever."

She sighed. "The point is - you guys don't know what's going to happen until you try, right?"

Molly sighed again. "You weren't there the day Cam broke up with Jaye," she said firmly, still not looking at Rory. "If he still need time to get over that and Vala, then I'm fine with how things are right now. I can deal."

"Okay," Rory said biting her lip. She paused, and added, "If he's not over them and he's still kissing you, then you need to stop him from doing that. I'm not saying he's consciously taking advantage of you or whatever, because that's not him. But if you're feeling, you know...feelings, and this keeps happening, it's going to hurt worse in the long run."

Molly finally looked up. "I don't think he's still hung up on them. Either of them. He'll probably always care about them, but he's not waiting for Vala to come back or for Jaye either. I have no doubt of that. It's the breaking up part he still needs to get over. Until he does that," she looked away again, "I will try not to kiss him anymore."

"...okay, I suppose I get that. And good for you. But it's still really unfair to you. In, um, my opinion," Rory said.

Molly shrugged. "I can't force him to do something he doesn't want to. That would really ruin our friendship."

"No, I know. I mean that he's being unfair," Rory elaborated. "Which, again isn't my call to make. So just ignore me."

"He doesn't mean to be though," Molly said.

"I'm not blaming him. I'm just saying it's not a position you should be put in," Rory said.

Molly shrugged. "It's the position I'm in and I can deal with it for now. I'm not desperate to have a boyfriend and Cam and I are friends."

"Then you're a better person than I am," Rory said with a small smile. "I'm selfish like that."

Molly grinned back at her. "I just don't want to ruin our friendship," she said with a shrug. "That is me being selfish."

"Not really. It's reasonable," Rory shrugged.

Molly shrugged back. "Whatever it is, it's what I have to do right now."

"Best of luck to you, then. Let me know how it all turns out," Rory said. She frowned. "Would you rather I not talk to Cam about this? Because I'm sure it'll come up next time I see him, but if you'd rather I didn't...."

Molly shrugged. "You can talk to him if you want to. Just please don't blame him. I'm the one who started this by kissing him last week."

"Will do," Rory said, tossing off a small salute. "And I won't beat him up. Scout's honor."

Molly smiled. "Thanks, Rory. And I really do appreciate you worrying about me. You're the only person who has talked to me about it without there being drama first."

"There's been violence performed supposedly on my behalf of the 'overprotective brother figure' versus the boyfriend sort," Rory said with a crooked smile. "So I sympathize."

With Rory's first statement a bunch of stuff clicked together in Molly's head. She looked at Rory in surprise for a moment. "Ohhhhhhhh," she said eventually. "I really should have figured that out sooner. So much stuff makes much more sense now." She gave Rory a sympathetic grin.

"Figured...what?" Rory asked, going red.

Molly wasn't completely oblivious. If it had been going on for as long as she now suspected and she hadn't heard about it, there was obviously some reason to keep it quiet. It shouldn't be something she just blurted out in the middle of a common room.

"I finally figured out why two people I thought were friends had a really stupid fight a while back," she said quietly.
