The Gym - Friday Morning

Peter had woken up later than expected, but he figured he might as well get a good start to the day.  Not finding anyone in the gym, he began punching the heavy bag using quick but forceful strikes.  Jab-Jab-cross, jab-jab-right hook, cross-cross-cross.

He was wearing his nametag prominently displayed.  It said "English Peter" in boldly marked letters.



OOC - Open for all your gym needs.  I might end up on slowplay for a bit

"It's just cane - you'd end up with a bruise, but the rattan usually breaks before it actually hurts you. Not that there isn't padding over there that we probably should have put on."


Peter took a step or two back and stood fully balanced and in a defensive posture as he waited.

"I was thinking about if it had been real," Dean said, bearing his teeth in a wolfish grin. He took one step forward and then started a flurry of attacks, trying to overwhelm Peter's defenses.

Peter parried Dean's flurry, impressed at his speed. Finally, one strike slipped past his guard to land on the shoulder of Peter's sword arm. Taking advantage of the fact that Dean's sword seemed to be in a bit of an awkward position, Peter stepped in and, with a heavy blow, sent his sword towards Dean's midsection.

Dean tried to get his sword around in time, but just wasn't fast enough and took the force of most of the blow in the stomach. It knocked the breath out of him with an "Oof!" and he stepped back and held up his hand to call a halt when he got it back.

Peter stepped back, sword lowered. "You okay?" He looked concerned.

Dean nodded. "Fine," he wheezed, managing to finally straighten up and get something like a full breath into his lungs. He let out a wheezy laugh. "Dad always tells me that I let my guard down when I get aggressive. Think you just helped prove his point."

"You're fast though. Faster than most. And I think it was more forgetting that sometimes getting in a blow can open you up to worse," Peter considered. "Though that might be a perspective that comes from being used to fighting in armor."

Dean gave a half shrug and cautiously tried a deeper breath. "You're right about me forgetting. I get so focused on whaling away that the fact that I can also get whaled on gets lost in the shuffle."

"I do the same thing half the time. People keep trying to beat it out of me too. Another pass or shall we call it good for the day?"

"I think I'm good for today," Dean said, then grinned. "Don't want to be a walking bruise if I happen to have to take my shirt off tonight."

"On the other hand, it might get you sympathy points from a lady," Peter pointed out with a wink.

"There is that," Dean agreed speculatively.
