Friday Night, the roof

Ellie found her way to the dorm rooftop, taking a look around. Over the summer a ten inch refractor telescope and dome would be built for use in her classes, and she wanted to see if the space would meet her approval. Frowning at the cigarette butts that littered the roof, she made a note to get no smoking signs placed in the vicinity around the dome. The odd looking garden, however, could stay.

She'd brought her own telescope up to the roof and now set it up. Her target tonight? The full moon and the brilliant light that was Jupiter in the southeast.

Once more unto the roof. He needed to think about what he'd seen today, and the air was great on the roof. He hadn't known what he'd been missing living in the city.

Ellie looked up from the telescope and smiled and called out in greeting, "Hi."

Tim hadn't expected to find anyone up here, not that he'd neccesarily expected it to be empty. "Uh, Hi. Nice night isn't it."

"I wish there were no clouds, but at least it's not raining," Ellie said. "Are you a student? I'm Ellie Arroway. I'll be teaching this summer."

"yeah I'm Tim Desmond." he introduced himself. "Here for the summer." He looked at the telescope. "I take it you'll be teaching peeping tom 101 astronomy?" he deduced.

"Right in one," Ellie said, grinning. "I'll be teaching observational astronomy over the summer, and the more in depth stuff for the fall semester."

"Good place for it." Tim said, looking up at the night sky. "In New York you're lucky to see one star."
