Gym, early Saturday

It was very early on Saturday morning, so hopefully there wouldn't be anybody else around in the gym. She needed to work out some frustration, preferably without being recognized by more people she had never seen before in her life.

She pulled out the mats, laying them down at a decent distance from each other, then stepped onto on one and thought for a moment.

Back-in, full out...

ooc: open!

"Thanks," Parker said briefly. "Hopefully they'll be in touch soon. Angel was off to be a Champion in his home dimension. Logan... just had a lot of rotten crap happen to him. Everyone's hoping they'll be okay."

Parker raised an eyebrow, studying Peter, her eyes glinting. "Yes. It is. Although it's also designed to handle multiple attackers at once. The Japanese police usually have some training in Aikido before they're allowed on the street." She paused, catching her breath. "Boxing? I have some experience with that."

Six years' worth. But hey, why mention it.

"I add my hopes then about both their safety and their honourable fight."

Peter attempted to pull the foot out of his mouth by collecting his thoughts before answering. "Definitely a useful style then. Have you studied it long? Are you a warrior, Parker? Or where did you learn your skills?"

"Aikido, I've only been studying this semester. Boxing-- somewhat longer." Parker grinned slowly, shaking her head. "A warrior. Hmm. I don't know if I'd say that. I'm more interested in strategy than in fighting all the time. I'll do it when I have to, though. And I believe in always being prepared." She shook out one hand, and tilted her head. "Care for a spar? We can stick to boxing, see how it goes."

"A tactician? My brother would like you," Peter said thoughtfully. He brought up his hand to salute Parker as if he were holding a sword. "I would be honored. Are there gloves? Bare-knuckled seems like we're asking for broken fingers."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Right over here. And helmets as well," Parker said approvingly. The best way to see if they had new fighters for the next time things got crazy was to test them out early. She picked up the gloves, and tossed them over to him. "To a call of time, or the first one down? We don't usually go for a beat-down here."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter caught the gloves deftly and strapped them on. He rather damned his fixation on swordwork in Narnia but figured he could start making up for that now. "To time if you don't mind. First one down is too false."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Time it is. Whenever you're set--" Parker punched her hands together, then nodded and took up a defensive position. "I'm good to go."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter held out his hands to touch gloves and settled back into his own defensive postures, bouncing a bit on the balls of his feet.

Figuring he might as well find out what her reaction was going to be, Peter threw a tentative jab that probably wouldn't reach her unless she walked into it.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker avoided it easily, her smile widening, and circled around him, wanting to see if he'd make the same mistakes Joxer had.

A lightening-fast jab was aimed at his shoulder, then Parker bounced back.

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter danced back, avoiding the punch, but his eyebrows rose in appreciation of her speed. He took a few shuffle steps and threw another quick jab at her shoulder and followed it up with a cross aimed at her ribcage.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! Good, someone who could actually put up a fight. Parker knocked the cross down, took the jab with a grunt, and then brought her hand up in a quick right-handed strike for his torso. She followed it with a second punch to the same area from the left, before dodging left very, very quickly, aiming to be in his blind spot.

Smiling the whole time.

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
The first stroke hit Peter in the ribcage as he attempted to pivot away from hit leaving the second punch to just barely connect with the fabric of his shirt. He was able to follow Parker's dodging to the left though keeping himself square to his opponent. Concentrating on his footwork to make sure she wasn't behind him, Peter did have a chance to throw a punch right away.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're not bad," Parker said, nodding as she blocked and knocked down the punch, then followed-through with another elbow-jab, this one going for his jaw. He had height and reach on her, but he wasn't using it to the fullest advantage.

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-05-13 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"I do what I can," Peter said, grinning. The elbow jab connected completely, snapping his head back as he wasn't watching for any attack coming from that direction." He recovered and moved back into reach with a cross-cross-uppercut combination aimed for her torso.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Careful," Parker cautioned him, then concentrated on blocking and avoiding the cross and uppercut. The last one landed glancingly, but still smarted. "Oooo."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, well, didn't realise elbows were part of Queensbury rules now." Peter attacked again with a right cross towards her shoulder. Too bad he dropped his guard a bit as he was doing it.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Never met him," Parker said, smirking. "My apologies for anything misleading--"

And she shot her arm forward in a power blow, right where he dropped his guard, then brought her other hand under it to aim for his sternum again.

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Whatever are they teaching in schools these days," Peter shook his head in mock disbelief.

He saw the power blow coming and couldn't do anything to block it as he was already extended in his own punch. The second punch, however, he was able to throw himself to the side to miss most of its force, landing on the mat and rolling back to his feet. "Nice one," he coughed.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
"You still want to go?" Parker danced back again, not winded yet, still smiling. "The things they teach in school these days are sometimes better taken in measured doses."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Peter shook out his shoulders and back. He hadn't been particularly short of breath before, but that blow had certainly knocked his wind right out of him. "Measured doses like castor oil," he muttered.

He held out his gloves to be touched. "I concede. Don't want to be completely bruised up, one never knows when one's going to be shirtless around here," he said with a sideways grin.

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Parker laughed, and touched gloves with him. "I think I like you, English. And you've got some good moves. We should do this again sometime." She grinned. "But not so often you can't take off your shirt without worrying. Thanks for the match."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-05-14 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Peter swept her a bow with a laugh. "I think I like you too. Even as a Yankee Queen." He threw her a wink. "Thank you for the bout, and I'm sure I'll be thanking you again tomorrow when I'm sore."

He wandered off to find a shower.
