2nd Floor Common Room: evening

Rory was curled up on the couch with a small ball of fuzz in her lap and a turtle tank on couch beside her.

Vladdie would occasionally nod and give a small noise in his sleep as he slowly woke. And Rory, meanwhile, just flipped through the channels in boredom.

"Hey, Rory," Elizabeth dropped into a chair and drew her legs up underneath her. "How's things?"

"Pretty good," Rory said with a smile. "TV's boring. Vladdie's still waking up. And I'm turtle-sitting, which is a fascinating activity. How're you?"

"Bored," Elizabeth admitted, grinning slightly. "I don't deal well with large periods of time with nothing to do."

"Me neither. Usually it means I'm reading something. But I'm actually having issues concentrating on books," Rory sighed. "Which, um, for me? Is really unusual."

"I know the feeling," Elizabeth nodded. "What's up in Rory-world that's giving you concentration issues?"

John wanders down the hall with his sea monkeys in his hands.

"Hello common room!"

Molly wandered in after sleeping most of the day. She plopped down in an empty chair.

"Hey, Rory."

"Eh, bunch of stuff. The seniors leaving, the influx of new kids, my mom getting close to her due date, college...." Rory sighed again. "Just a lot on my mind, lately."

"Hello, John!" Rory said. "You brought friends!"

"Hey, Molly!" Rory said. "How're you?"

"Well, if you ever feel the need to talk to someone about any of it, I'm just down the corridor," Elizabeth offered.

Other floors proved to be an interesting experience before, so Joxer entered the room with a smug smile on his face.

"Hello people," he said.

Molly shrugged. "Bored," she said.

"Hey, Joxer," Rory said, waving. Vladdie lifted his head from her lap and sniffed curiously at the air. He'd never met this person before!

"I did," he says, setting the tank down. "They have names but the only one I can remember is Dorothy. Aeryn probably knows the other ones."

"Yes!" John beams at the sea monkeys. "They're travelling today."

Elizabeth laughs. "Where else have they been then today?"

"Whoa, easy boy," Joxer said, eyeing the dog. "What's his name?"

"It seems to be the theme today," Rory mused. "Even the animals are bored."

Vladdie punctuated this statement with a yawn.

"New person. Hi! I'm Elizabeth," she said, waving.

Somehow every time he'd checked out what was supposedly the cool common room, it had been less jumping than the other floors. So, in the name of science (no, really), Conner and his soccer ball decided to give the second floor common room another shot.

"Hey," he said, dropping into a chair.

"Hey, Molly," Elizabeth waved.

"This is Vladdie," she said, holding up the wee blinky puppy. "Vladdie, meet Joxer."

Vladdie yawned.
