Stickbug Common Room: Afternoon

Since Jamie had no workshops today? He decided the best thing he could do was hang out in the CR and see what it had to offer. Granted it was a smaller common room than the dorms but it had a comformtable couch and a coffee machine.

What else do you really need?

Nadia had no workshops until tomorrow and was avoiding her own cabin so as not to have to deal with a certain French mercenary so she was wandering around the camp and stumbled upon Stinkbug.

She stopped in the doorway and looked in at Jamie. "Huh. You really do live in Stinkbug."

"Stickbug," Jamie corrected. "There's no stink here. Unless it's something your brought over from Squirrel."

"Squirrels aren't stinky. They're nature's ninjas. Stink--I mean, stickbugs do . . . what, lie around pretending to be sticks?"

"We camoflage ourselves," Jamie corrected Nadia with a little eye roll. "We're much stealthier than squirrels who are *so* not ninjas. They chatter incessantly and dodge traffic. Not exactly a bright animal."

Nadia raised an eyebrow. "Careful, or you might find yourself facing some squirrelly wrath."

"Oh please don't tell me we're going to do something as horribly cliche as an argument over which cabin is better," Jamie replied. "Because first? Horribly boring. Second? Squirrels are just rats with fuzzier tales."

Nadia raised an eyebrow. "Rats are terribly noble creatures with incredible survival abilities and a keen intelligence. And you just think it's boring because you know you'd lose the argument."

"Hello stickbug Jamie and Nadia," John says, coming back after seeing Aeryn.

"Rats are filthy disease ridden creatures responsible for wiping out most of Europe," Jamie pointed out. "Do you really want to be associated with the black plague?"

"Hey John," Jamie said with a wave. "What's going on?"

"Not too much," he says. "Just enjoying the last days of vacation before my first workshop. How bout you?"

"That wasn't rats, that was fleas. Which are bugs. Like stickbugs are. And it certainly wasn't squirrels. Your logic is flawed."

"Debating the relative merits of stickbugs vs squirrels."

"Pretty much the same," Jamie said. "I don't have any workshops until tomorrow so I'm trying to keep my boredom in check."

"Fleas were on the Rats who carried them everywhere," Jamie pointed out. "And you're the one who said that rats were noble. Not me."

"They are noble. To other rats. And maybe the rats carrying the fleas were just doing it because they got sick of having to flee sinking ships and having medicines and make up tested on them. But my cabin isn't the rat cabin, it's the squirrel cabin." Nadia said, then followed it up with a "Stinkbug," for good measure.

"Stickbugs rule!" And he includes a fistpump with that shouted statement.

"I feel like we should be singing kumbaya or something," John says. "Hold hands and be all camper like."

"Stickbug," Jamie corrected her.

Nadia rolled her eyes. "A squirrel could eat a stinkbug for breakfast. It wouldn't, but it totally could."

"Wouldn't we lose our cool status if we sand Kumbaya?" Jamie asked. "Maybe we should sing some AC/DC instead. Or Spinal Tap."

"Pfft. You wish you were a stickbug."

"Are you listening to yourself right now?" Nadia did a terrible imitation of Jamie's voice, including accent: "You wish you were a stickbug." She dropped the voice. "That's just ridiculous."

"No, squirrels would be too easy eating nuts to even pay attention to the sly, sneaky, stickbug," John says. "And then the stickbug would pounce and it would be over."
