Main Campfire, Monday evening

Jude wandered towards the main campfire, wanting to get away from the cabins a bit. He flopped down onto a log, looking uncharacteristically mopey for Jude. One might even say emo if his subculture was not clearly grunge/skater. He is accompanied by a slightly squished bag of non-special brownies and a stick, which he currently using to poke absently at the dirt in front of him, making little patterns and hills and holes.

Walter stopped cutting up his stick to look at Jude. Everyone he'd encountered so far in school had had one ambition or another.

"Will you be having lunch professionally after you're done with school?"

"Ideally, yes." Jude replied, deadpan. "Easy hours, but the pay's a bit on the low end of the scale."

"On the plus side, there's food." Outdeadpan the butler, I dare you.

Come to think of it, it's been done.

"A very good point, although lunchroom quality can vary. Not too much job stability there."

"I'd suggest caution with the Fandom High lunchroom. If nothing else, there was the day we were chased out by lemurs."

"Lemurs." Jude blinked, then shrugged. "At least it wasn't black flies."

"True. We did have a picnic interrupted by fish monsters. But flies would have been harder to take care of."

"Fish monsters? Harsh, bro." He doesn't seem particularily surprised by the possibly, though.

"The food was good," Walter said as though fish monsters were really barely more annoying than ants.

"Well that's a relief."

"Have you met Pippi yet?" There was something about Jude's virtual unflappability that seemed like a good match for Pippi.

"Yeah," Jude nodded. "First day, at the barbeque."

"She's fun. If she comes to you with an idea, go with it." Probably not duty.

Jude nodded. "Gotcha, bro. Sounds wicked."

"What do you like to do other than lunch?" There had to be something, right? Or not.

Jude shrugged. "Usual teenage stuff. Hang out with my friends, watch movies, play video games." He smiled mellowly. "Find new and interesting ways to almost kill myself on my skateboard."
