Meerkat Common Room [late afternoon]

Rory lounged on the couch in the Meerkat common room, the curtains carefully drawn on the windows. She had her laptop out, and was watching her Vanessa Saturn DVDs, and if possible, her sunburn looked worse than yesterday.

Vladdie was...sulking in the corner. Which was an odd look for Vladdie, really.

"So soon?" Rory asked.

She didn't even try to disguse that she was sad at this.

Anakin gave her a quick smile. "Can't be a meerkat forever, can I?" he said. "I have to do some time with my fellow flamingos." He paused. "Though I don't exactly know what a flamingo is."

"Pink bird kind of like a stork or a crane," she told him. "John was one."

"I don't have to like pink, do I?" Anakin asked, looking flummoxed. "Though Cal's in the cabin, too, so I'm guessing that's not a requirement."

"I don't think so. I mean, I'm not all that fond of tan," Rory pointed out.

"Good to know," Anakin said, beginning to lean in for a kiss before stopping himself. "Wanted to be sure I wasn't missing some kind of cultural thing," he said, giving Vladdie another scratch behind the ears.

Rory scooped up Vladdie, who was starting to doze, and said, "He's not all squirmy and irritable, yay. And no, you're not missing a cultural thing." She gave Anakin a fond smile. "Have fun with your graduated friends."

Aankin smiled back. "See you soon," he promised, and walked out of the cabin.
