Flamingo campfire, late Friday afternoon

Xander had intended to come back from town, grab his laptop, and trek up to school to check e-mail; somehow, though, once he got back to the air-conditioned cabin, the call of naptime was much stronger than the call of the intarwebs. So... at least he was mostly awake when he walked out the front door yawning, a large box under one arm, and a bag of marshmallows, firemaking implements, and...um. turnips. in the other hand.

Dropping the foodstuff on one of the logs by the firepit, Xander opened the box, eyed the front of the cabin carefully, and finally decided to set up the contents on the side of the door nearest to the woods. Satisfied with their placement and patting each one of them on the head, he turned back to the campfire. Or rather, the campfire-to-be, once he got it re-lit.

"Okay, the flamingoes make sense. But, uh... turnips?" Bridge says, scratching his head as he goes to sit down by the campfire (to be).

Xander glances at the open bag. And screws up his face at the shape of the most visible one. "Baldrick."

Buffy was looking for somewhere to stick her last poster, then realized that the graduates/camp instructors' cabin was as yet untouched by cheer. She trotted over to put it up, just as Xander turned away from the flamingos. "Hiyah!"

"Hey!" Bridge waves.

"Buffy!" Xander said happily. Then kind of wished it hadn't been quite that pleased, since it came out more 'Buffy my friend that I've known for years' than 'Buffy who doesn't know me and gets really spooked/annoyed by the alternate universe thing.' "Hi," he added a little more casually.

"Hi," said Greg, walking up. "I had blue hair this morning."

Alanna didn't snicker. At all. Really. Faithful may have, though.

"Hi," said Xander, tossing another stick on the about-to-be-fire. "I saw."

Alanna was still in a pretty good mood. Faithful was taking a nap on her shoulder.

Xander tossed a marshmallow at Faithful's sleeping head Alanna. "Hi. Food."

Anakin, fresh from the showers after spending most of the afternoon working on the flight simulator, walked up to the campfire and smiled.

Then he saw the pink...things...in the yard and blinked. "I don't have to stand like that to live here, do I?"

"Anakin, hey!" Xander waved. "No. Ballet poses only required for real flamingos. Or, um, real plastic flamingos. I just thought we could use some... cabin mascots or something."

"Anakin," Alec said, gesturing to the motorcycle sitting quietly on its kickstand. "This a good time to bring it by?"

"Hi, Alec!" Buffy bounced up at him.

While taking the long way back to Seahorse, Sam does a bit of a double take at the decorations outside the cabin, and snickers. "Wow, those are some bright flamingoes," he said. "I'm impressed."

After spending the day doing laundry and other things in the dorm, Veronica headed back to camp and was amused by the new decorations by the cabin.

It was pretty quiet in Meerkat cabin tonight, so Molly headed next door to where all the noise was.

"Hey, everybody," she said to the group in general.
